Employment Program Spotlight:

Meet Greg Spigelman, Employment Manager

We are pleased to reintroduce Greg Spigelman, the same great guy, but with a new TotalLink title. In late October, Greg accepted the role of Employment Manager. Greg started with TotalLink as an Employment Specialist in the summer of 2020. Greg's experience with TotalLink's employment services and his Master's in Business Administration give him the skills to work closely with both businesses and the participants and families we serve.

He is looking forward to mentoring the team and empowering more people to find and maintain paid employment. "I am honored to be trusted by our families and team, and I am so happy to be part of our organization's continued growth. There are so many exciting things we have planned for the future," said Greg.

Where We Belong in Our Community:

A Girlfriends Group Perspective

Our Girlfriends Group program has a mission to impact their community positively. Recently, they decided to do so by writing an empowerment article for our very own newsletter. Enjoy!

Community Belonging

In our community, there are many places we feel we belong. These include the places we work, where we enjoy activities and clubs, and where we enjoy our community offerings. We belong where you belong, and we all belong in the community together.

When we are in our communities, we are ambassadors, or leaders, to help all people feel included. It is important to teach and show others what inclusion looks like, whether we are at work, enjoying time out with friends or family, or doing a volunteer project. We get to lend a helping hand to those who need it and help others be their best selves. We also get to meet people with unique abilities and help everyone feel included.

Having a place to belong fills us with a sense of purpose. You’re not worried about being judged or not being good enough - you can just be yourself. It fills you with confidence and makes you less scared of not fitting in. Having places like this makes us feel supported and makes the world a better place.

Being part of a community is about helping others feel welcomed. We can make people feel welcomed by being kind, accepting, and letting them know they belong. It is important to be kind and accepting because it feels AWESOME!

When the group was asked to share their feelings, Sheila said, "I feel accepted at my health club because I don't have to worry about being judged on how I perform. I can just be myself." CJ added, "It makes me proud to have a job. I feel happy to have people that care about me and my future plans." Pictured above: Girlfriends Group proudly shares about community belonging.
