Feb. 27 - March 10, schools will mobilize students, staff, and the community to help students understand drug use risks, feel comfortable asking questions, and learn how to refuse peer pressure. Please use this linked toolkit to plan your school's kick-off and promote student/staff participation.

Literacy Mid-South is seeking new members to join its LiteracyCorps this summer. Members receive a stipend, education award (for tuition or student debt), and professional development in the nonprofit and education sectors. Apply here!

PRAXIS Reimbursement Program (NEW)

MSCS wants to help you celebrate passing your Praxis exams! That's right, when you receive a passing score on a test that leads to licensure or is part of a District-sponsored initiative, e.g., the SPED Initiative, you will be reimbursed the exam fee.

240 Tutoring: FREE Praxis Support

240 Tutoring is an online service that preps you with a diagnostic test, flashcards, presentation of content, and quizzes that feature Praxis-simulated practice questions. 


This is all provided by MSCS at no charge to District employees! Simply click on the 240 Tutoring Request link to gain access.

GELF K-3 Home Library Program (NEW)

MSCS is again taking part in the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation (GELF) K-3 Home Library Program, a FREE book delivery program! Each rising 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade student will receive SIX high-quality books this summer at no cost to the District. The books will be delivered to students' homes, and delivery is expected to begin in June. As a bonus, schools will also receive copies of the texts to distribute to their 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade teachers and the school librarian!


Schools and parents do not have to take any action to participate in this book delivery program.


We are very excited to continue to build our students' at-home libraries through this great partnership with GELF. Check out the FAQ here.

Social Studies Standards Review (NEW)

Help shape TN Social Studies Standards! 


The State Board of Education (SBE) conducts a review of math, science, ELA, and social studies standards on a rotating, six-year cycle. The next step in this review process is a transparent survey open to all members of the public in Tennessee. Visit this link to review the proposed revisions.

Portfolio Reminders

Non-Tested Grades and Subject Teachers: Please be sure to log into your Portfolium Account to select your model and collections for SY 2022-23.


While there is no deadline for Point A Submissions, educators are strongly encouraged to submit their Point A and B Submissions prior to the 11:59pm, May 1 deadline.  


Please note: Per the state, no further submissions will be allowed after the deadline. Any portfolio missing any of the four collections will be marked Incomplete (I) and an LOE (Level of Overall Effectiveness) score will NOT generate for the school year. 


If any NGTS educator is having issues accessing the platform, has general questions about submissions, or has had job/role changes that do not require Submission of the portfolio, please contact the District Portfolio Lead, Ayodele Hall
