Reflecting on 2023 and Happy Holidays

In 2023 Egret expanded its lighting team to 5 Recruiters. Brooke Ziolo, Jim McGregor, Cass Dahlem, Jacque Nelson and Pete San Juan will help you with all your hiring needs in lighting manufacturers, rep agencies, design firms and distributors!

Most of the lighting companies we worked with in 2023 reported flat or had slight growth over 2022/2023 but are optimistic that 2024 will see larger increases. Our clients shared their 2024 focus will be on new product development and expanded sales / market share. There will also be a larger focus on new and underserved markets. 

In 2023 we saw a big increase in specifiers hiring Lighting Designers, manufacturers hiring outside salespeople / RSM’s and rep agencies hiring in outside sales and quotations. We’ve seen a trend in increased training offered by manufacturers for their reps and distributors. Most of our clients saw declines in the office / property management segment but saw growth in the C&I and contractor markets.

There seemed to be fewer mergers and acquisitions in lighting this year as well. A few highlights include:
