Historic Houses of Worship Tour -- December 26, 2023! | |

Hagerstown Historic Houses of Worship Tour
December 26, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm
(Snow date December 27, 2023).
This annual event is FREE and open to the public.
A wonderful opportunity to see the interiors of historic downtown Hagerstown houses of worship. Learn about the architecture and ecumenical heritage from docents and guides. Music, refreshments, and local art will be featured at some locations.
This is a self-guided walking/driving tour and can be started and ended at the house of worship of your choice. Parking is available at individual houses of worship in their lots and/or along the nearby streets as permitted. You can use the interactive map at Main Street Hagerstown’s Historic Houses of Worship tour page to navigate and learn more about the participating houses of worship.
The Holiday Tour photo contest will take place with a $200 prize for best original photograph and $50 for the runner-up. Anyone may submit a photo taken during the 2023 tour for a chance to win. Tour organizers are seeking pictures highlighting the beauty and architecture of the houses of worship. The winning original photograph will be commissioned by the tour organizers and will be used to create posters and promotional materials for the 2024 Tour.

Holiday Tours at the Miller House!
The outside of the Miller House is decorated for the holiday season! Thank you to the Hagerstown Fire Department for hanging wreaths on the Miller House’s windows and door!
Decorations on the outside of the Miller House are generously funded by Downtown Hagerstown's Mainstreet program's "Holiday Cheer Grant."
Holiday Tours are on Fridays and Saturdays at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 PM, and by appointment. Check out the colonial holiday decor throughout the Miller House from local garden clubs!
This year's theme is 18th century colonial, and features displays of live and synthetic greenery.

Reserve your seat for Sorry, Not Sorry: It’s Pablo-matic at the Brooklyn Museum
Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Catherine Morris and Lisa Small, Brooklyn Museum curators, will recount their experiences organizing It’s Pablo-matic: Picasso According to Hannah Gadsby, perhaps the most talked — and written — about exhibition of the year. One of several shows presented around the world in 2023 to mark the 50th anniversary of Pablo Picasso’s death, It’s Pablo-matic stood out as the only project to examine the artist’s complicated legacy through a critical, feminist lens. Hear about how they organized the exhibition with their co-curator, Emmy Award-winning comedian Hannah Gadsby, and its conversation-generating effects on critics and audiences worldwide. $8 museum members, $10 general public. Archaeology of the Jonathan Street Cabin

From an archaeological site, the subject of a museum exhibit, and a documentary--the Jonathan Street Cabin has had much-deserved buzz over the last several years.
On Friday, January 12, 2024, join Senior Archaeologist Aaron Levinthal from the Maryland Department of Transportation as he explores the fascinating discoveries uncovered during the archaeological excavation at the historic Jonathan Street cabin.
This month’s cocktail is the Cabin Fever, a bourbon forward drink sure to give you all those warm cabin feels. Doors open at 5:30 PM and light hors d'oeuvres will be served!

It’s the 1970’s Me decade. The performance troupe, the Rude Mechanicals, has a paying gig for an upscale middleaged wedding in Athens, America. Elsewhere, young lovers chase each other in unrequited efforts. To complete the mayhem, other-worldly hippies intervene to get the 20 somethings paired off.

The Washington County Museum’s exhibition “Childhood Favorites: 100 Years of Children’s Book Illustration Childhood Favorites runs through March 17, 2023. With more than 140 original works from over 75 books, this exhibition explores the history of children’s literature and illustration, from the works of Beatrix Potter to the digital creations of Mo Willems. Childhood Favorites features work by Dr. Seuss, Maurice Sendak’s iconic Where the Wild Things Are, and Garth Williams’ Stuart Little.
