Volunteer Voice

Roquelina makes morning support calls to seniors who live on their own and might not have relatives living nearby. She says:

"When I started volunteering, I realized that I wasn't only helping the Seniors I was talking to, but they were helping me too! Listening to their stories and learning about their challenges and how triumphantly they deal with the obstacles of everyday life has taught me to look at my challenges in a different light. They are always so cheerful and with a smile! I have learned a lot from their resilience!

SSSBC thanks Roquelina for her four months of service with us!

Anthony Kupferschmidt

"For the past eight years I have had the honour of working in partnership with SSSBC, a leading agency supporting older adults that is helping to unite and strengthen the senior-serving not-for-profit sector in BC. Now I am excited to contribute to an organization I believe in as a new Board member."

Naveed Nadri

"I am honored to have joined the board of directors of the Senior Services Society of BC. As someone who deeply values the contributions and experiences of seniors in our community, I am passionate about supporting this organization's mission to connect adults 60+ with individual support and housing navigation services. I believe that everyone deserves to live with dignity in a safe, comfortable, and healthy home, and I am committed to working with the Senior Services Society to achieve this vision. I'm also excited to collaborate with fellow board members and organization staff to ensure that seniors in British Columbia receive the support and care they deserve."
