The AmCham Education and Training Committee are hosting a conversation to help members understand the changes in Education Law no. 43/2019/QH14 (“Education Law 2019“) and Decree no. 152/2020/ND-CP (“Decree 152“), explore the impact of the changes on the recruitment and retention of foreign experts and share experiences and scenarios. Through this dialogue, the AmCham Education and Training Committee aims to help empower members and hear potential solutions from our members to frame further advocacy.

Annual Vietnam Business Forum (VBF)

The Vietnam Business Forum ("VBF") is an on-going policy dialogue between the Government and business community aiming at a favorable business environment and sustainable economic development in Vietnam.
VBF in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the World Bank Group, the International Finance Corporation will be holding our policy dialogues between the Government of Vietnam and business community on Friday, March 17 for the Technical Session (Agenda) and Sunday, March 19 for the High-level Session (Agenda). The events also mark the 25th year contribution of VBF in collaboration with the government towards a favorable investment environment. 
The Forum, themed “BUSINESS COMMUNITY IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GOVERNMENT OF VIETNAM IN FOSTERING GREEN GROWTH”, will provide a platform to engage in a high-level Public – Private Policy Dialogue with key decision-making Government Officials and shall be followed by the VBF 25th anniversary celebration.
The registration shall be closed by Friday, March 10, 2023.

AmCham Danang Update
Greetings from Danang and I hope you are all well! What a great turnout for the Vietnam Child Protection and Safeguarding Summit last week in HCMC. Over 200 educators, NGO’s and businesses attended the day long summit that gave very insightful information as well as ideas on how we can all protect our children’s health and wellbeing! Thanks to our Board Member Tri Tran of APU as well as Ms. Sue from Green Shoots who joined me in person at the event. Special thanks to Michael Tower from the Education and Training Committee who spear fronted the great effort to make this event happen. And to all the other member of the Committee and staff of AmCham HCMC who worked so hard to make this event the success that it was.

Meeting with HCMC Leaders On February 22, HCMC People’s Committee Chairman Phan Van Mai led a delegation of leaders from the People’s Committee to discuss opportunities and challenges for businesses in HCMC. Numerous business association leaders from various countries were present. AmCham Executive Director Jim Ollen discussed eight recommendations from AmCham, including supporting high-value manufacturing & supply chains; recognizing health & wellness as the foundation for the economy; investing in transportation infrastructure; developing a globally competitive workforce; reforming capital markets; and simplifying visa policies.
Long An Province leaders met with diplomatic missions, associations and businesses On February 23 in Tan An City, Executive Director Jim Ollen attended the event and had the opportunity to meet Nguyen Van Duoc, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, term XIII, Secretary of the Long An Provincial Party Committee, among other officials. AmCham members in Long An province include Vietnam Waste Solutions, Long An Energy Corporation, Avery Dennison, Codaresources Vietnam, International Trimmings & Labels, PVJ, Mast Industries, and many others.
Vietnam Child Protection and Safeguarding Summit Thanks to those members who joined our Vietnam Child Protection & Safeguarding Summit. We had 2 keynote speeches and 17 sessions covering a wide range of issues including best practices in safeguarding children at schools, multi-disciplinary efforts in mental healthcare, current legislation, and case studies in Vietnam. We greatly appreciate all of our 45 speakers, who included representatives from schools, institutes, NGOs, legal firms and healthcare services. The Vietnam Child Protection & Safeguarding Summit demonstrated AmCham's "RISE" values: Responsible, Impactful, Solidarity and Enduring. We hope this will be the first of an annual summit and we look forward to seeing you all again!

USAID-funded digital training program The USAID WISE activity will support Vietnam’s National Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Strategy to advance continued economic transformation. WISE is a joint effort of USAID and the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam and made possible through USAID’s U.S. Support for Economic Growth in Asia program, which aims to improve the policy environment for sustainable economic growth and prosperity. The goal of WISE is to support interventions to expand the specialized skills segment of Vietnam’s labor market to improve the upward mobility and competitiveness of Vietnam’s workforce. Click HERE for more information.
