At 13 years old, Subliminal is the oldest cow to be named Star of the Breed. However, getting to this point came with bumps in the road. The Holstein cow suffered a dislocated hip in 2013 and was taken to UW Veterinary Care for treatment. A year later, Subliminal returned to dairy competition, winning numerous accolades including the prestigious Star of the Breed award in 2021 capping off over a decade of wins and achievements.
PET TIPS AND CLINICAL STUDIES

Dogs can eat some unusual things, but one especially puzzling snack of choice is grass. The exact reason dogs eat grass is a mystery, but may be tied to scavenging behavior. If your dog regularly eats grass, there is generally no cause for concern; however if your dog starts eating more grass than usual, or if they are showing other signs of illness, you should consult your veterinarian as this can indicate a change in your dog's health.

We are recruiting dogs newly diagnosed with primary immune mediated thrombocytopenia (ITP) for a new study. The goal of the study is to determine if cytokine levels are an accurate marker to guide treatment and predict relapse. Eligible dogs will have blood collected at enrollment, and additional blood tests at pre-determined points throughout the study. The owners will get a free recheck complete blood count at each appointment.
Our patients cannot speak for themselves, so our staff relies on diagnostic imaging as they diagnose and treat illness in animals.

Our state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging capabilities include digital radiography (x-rays), ultrasound, fluoroscopy (real-time, moving x-rays), contrast studies, computed tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and nuclear imaging.

Using these technologies, our expert team of registered technologists, board-certified radiologists, and residents work together to give patients the best possible care. We currently have an open position on our diagnostic imaging team for those with the appropriate certification.

We recently installed brand new MRI (pictured left) and CT machines as part of our ongoing building expansion and renovation project.

Picking up Etta at UW Veterinary Care. It was spay day, she did great and is ready to roll.

Idgie had her first check-up today and was not having it! She may be grumpy, but she seems to have a clean bill of health aside from her being a whopping 584 grams! So my chunky plumpkin needs to cut back on the insects lol.

I don't even know what words I would use to express the love and gratitude we have for EVERYONE at UW Veterinary Care. From the reception staff to the doctors and everyone we've seen between them, the compassion and caring is palpable.

Yay! Got the call from UW Veterinary Care and my post-surgery labs are already normal - even better than they expected! One more follow-up in 2 weeks, then we'll talk about removing my last med, and potentially expanding my food options! I'm hopeful that includes pizza and cheeseburgers. My parents already tell me those still aren't a regular option on my menu. Darn them!
