SCRC'S Caregiver of the Month Spotlight: Tony

Meet Tony and his wife, Kathie. They have a love for all things nature, especially plants and wildflowers. Tony cares for his wife who has started showing symptoms of memory loss. Together, they carefully tend to their extensive collection of succulents and potted plants.

The love and care they put into this hobby doesn’t stop there. From their multiple trips up and down the California coast, they gather flowers to dry and press in order to create beautiful, handmade bookmarkers. They share their appreciation for the beauty and color of each pressed flower by gifting their handmade crafts to kind people encountered during their outings.

With Kathie showing more signs of memory loss, Tony has had to shift more of the care and attention to his wife. â€śSome days are harder than others. I often watch the videos and livestream classes from SCRC to help me develop ways to manage Kathie’s forgetfulness. I am really glad there’s an organization that focuses on supporting caregivers and it’s the reason why I support SCRC.”
