How is Yair Lapid (Israel's previous Prime Minister) related to Israeli beer?

Just ask the Shir Shalom Brotherhood. This week, they tried some Israeli beer and cocktails and we watched some beer commercials from the 1980s when Yair Lapid was a local celebrity news journalist! We ate Israeli food, drink beers and just had a lot of fun!

Earlier in the week, I joined Cteen in Westport. We had a session about Israeli teens and I shared stories from my childhood, high school and my IDF service. I also shared this great story about the "Sandwich Club," an after-school club in our Federation's partnership region of Afula, Israel, where teens make sandwiches for kids who can't afford to buy lunch at school.

Inspired by the Sandwich Club, we decided to make our own lunches for a local food shelter. We came together as a group and made up some tasty meals. It felt incredible to give back to our community, just like those awesome Israeli teens.

Arthur Szyk's The New Order: How the Cartoons of a Polish Jew Helped Prepare the U.S. for War

A self-described “soldier in art,” Arthur Szyk was famous for using his pen and brush to advocate for religious tolerance, racial equality, and human dignity. Active in the years leading up to World War II and the Holocaust, the New Canaan resident became one of America’s most celebrated political artists for his powerful artistic and social contributions against Nazism and fascism. In fall 2023, Fairfield University Art Museum is hosting a major exhibition of Szyk’s art and cartoons.
