TAF Presents: Art to Dine For!

January 29 - February 3, 2024

Local Participating Restaurants

The Arts Federation (TAF) is rolling out its newest event, Art to Dine For! Art to Dine For is a weeklong event that features select local restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries in the Greater Lafayette area. From January 29 to February 4, 2024, everyone is encouraged to dine, eat, and drink local. These wonderful establishments are donating a portion of their weekly sales to make art happen across our community. Have you always wanted to be a part of adding a mural to Downtown? Getting instruments into the hands of kids that can’t afford to rent or buy one? Or providing an art class so a child can express their creative selves? All these things are possible with Art to Dine For and all you have to do is go to one of these Greater Lafayette favorites and eat, drink, and delight your tastebuds.

Creative Intermission Workshops

January 9, 2024, 6:00 PM

Art Museum of Greater Lafayette

Creative Intermission Workshops are short (1.5-2 hours) "intermissions" in daily life; intentional breaks where participants gather in a safe emotional space to reflect, create, and grow. The focus is on using creativity as restorative play, so anyone can participate. You do not need previous art experience of any kind to benefit from these workshops. While the subject and approach will change from workshop to workshop, the intent for all of them is that participants would leave feeling encouraged and refreshed.

1964 The Tribute

January 5, 2024 7:30 PM

The Long Center

"1964" focuses on the quintessential moment in history, when The Beatles actually played before a LIVE audience.

The Beatles toured the world in the early 1960's, but now only a precious few remain who actually saw them LIVE. Who actually felt the "mania" that brought them to world acclaim.

Today, all that remains are a few scant memories and some captured images in pictures and on poor quality film and video.

"1964" meticulously re-creates the "MAGIC" of those LIVE Beatles' performances with artful precision and unerring accuracy.

Purdue University Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging presents the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Event featuring Dance Theatre of Harlem. Powered by Purdue Convocations.

Each year, Purdue celebrates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a commemorative event that honors his life’s work in civil rights and social justice. This Convos season, the Dance Theatre of Harlem will elevate this annual event with their stunning, passionate choreography and performance.

Founded in 1969, the Dance Theatre of Harlem is an institution of unparalleled global acclaim, and the 18-member, multi-ethnic company performs a forward-thinking repertoire that uses the language of ballet to celebrate the belief that the art form belongs to everyone. Dance Theatre of Harlem is not just a dance company– they are a singular presence in the ballet world, an elegant example of what is possible when an inclusive approach to art is allowed to evolve and thrive.

Lakecia Benjamin & Pheonix

January 19, 2024, 08:00 PM

Loeb Playhouse

2024 Purdue Jazz Festival Headliner

On Lakecia Benjamin’s latest recording, “Phoenix,” the jazz saxophonist captures the fiery performance that has been realized at international festivals as well as on-stage with such acts as The Roots, Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder. Pulling from jazz, soul, and funk, Benjamin’s music soars live and on record. She was part of the Monterey on Tour show with revered jazz vocalists Dee Dee Bridgewater and Kurt Elling, which included a concert at the Lincoln Center.

The charismatic Benjamin routinely engages her audiences on the mic and she is usually the most stylish in the venue. A recent concert in Germany saw her dressed in gold from head to toe, matching her trusted sax. However, that fit still could not outshine her massively impressive live performance, which the Wall Street Journal called “assertive and vital.”
