Two weekends ago, PESA took part in the ‘Spring Into Action Community Resource’ fair at Los Angeles Leadership Academy High School (LALA), reinforcing its commitment to supporting youth and families by providing essential legal and educational services.
The event, which ran from 10 AM to 1 PM, brought together 15 organizations offering free services such as produce distribution, haircuts, and legal resources. Janet Khachaturova, an Educational Life Coach (ELC) at PESA, shared the importance of the event and how it allowed PESA to connect with students and their families.
“We participated to let the community know that there is a nonprofit that can provide services within the legal field for youth,” Khachaturova explained. “If a minor is involved in legal matters, we can stand by them, guide them, and provide alternatives through our diversion programs.”
PESA interacted with approximately 20 families and the event served as a reminder of PESA’s growing presence in schools. “One student recognized our booth right away and pointed at our logo saying, ‘Oh, PESA! I know you guys!’ That was a powerful moment because it showed that our presence in schools is making an impact,” Khachaturova said.
“Nonprofits are a resource for the community, but many people don’t realize just how many services exist to help them,” she noted. “Even I learned about new resources, like a nearby nonprofit offering free laundry services and cooking classes for youth, as well as the LA Public Library’s free tutoring program.”
PESA’s participation in events like the LALA resource fair underscores the importance of nonprofits showing up for the community. “These fairs create opportunities for families to learn about services they might not have known existed,” Khachaturova said. “By being present, we can bridge gaps and ensure that youth and their families receive the support they need.”
As PESA continues to expand its outreach, its presence at local schools and community events remains a crucial part of its mission—to empower and uplift youth by providing the necessary tools and guidance for a brighter future.
