A MESSAGE FROM SR. PRINCIPAL, MR. TOLZDA | |
Dear St. Serra Parents,
It was announced last week that Mrs. Carol Reiss plans to retire at the end of the current school year after serving 40 years in Catholic education, most recently as St. Serra’s Lower School Principal and Preschool Director. Mrs. Reiss’ long-term dedication to education, especially Catholic education, is an outstanding example of servant leadership. Mrs. Reiss, like so many of our teachers and staff at St. Serra, chose a career path based on her personal beliefs and commitment to Catholic education, despite the likelihood that a job in the public sector would be more lucrative.
Then he sat down, called the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.”
-Mark 9:35
I am personally thankful that Mrs. Reiss’ experience, counsel, and overall knowledge of St. Serra, were of great benefit to me when I transitioned in as Sr. Principal three years ago. As a champion for our Catholic Identity and faith-based school traditions, it is a tremendous blessing that we will continue to have Mrs. Reiss’ support as a volunteer, focusing on our Masses, going forward. As previously mentioned, we will be launching the recruitment process to find a successor for Mrs. Reiss. Both internal and external candidates will be considered in order to ensure that we find the person who is the most qualified and best fit for the position. Please keep St. Serra in your prayers as we make this transition in our leadership.
Always striving,
Tim Tolzda
Sr. Principal
