Saint John's Graduate School of Theology and Seminary

recognizes recent graduate:

Fr. Paulraj Sellam - Master of Arts in Theology

What brought you to Saint John’s Graduate School of Theology and Seminary?

As my origins are from India, I have always had the continuous desire to know about the roots of my Christian faith. Of course, I knew a little about how St. Thomas came and preached the Gospel in the Southern part of India; however, the most significant influence belongs to the missionaries from the Western World. Their constant, dedicated, sacrificial efforts initiated in me the urge to pursue and experience my Christian faith. In my search to do this, I found out about Saint John's School of Theology and Seminary. I believe that Saint John’s is one of the most respected, community-oriented graduate programs in Theology. This is a place where everyone tries to help, support, and enhance one another in love to experience the Benedictine tradition to pursue knowledge and wisdom.

How will you be spending your time once your coursework is complete?

I will return to India to spend time with my family and then determine the next step in following God's path.

What are your future goals/plans?

I plan to pursue further research and studies on the roots of my faith. I hope to use my MAT degree and experience from SOT/Sem to engage with my parish community. I am sure that my theological reflective learning experience will enhance the lives of my parishioners, family, and friends.

Give one hope for how you will use your degree and SOT/Sem experience.

The amazing, wonderful experience of being in the Saint John's family is so fulfilling. The enrichment of learning from excellent faculty, staff, and students will be cherished in my Christian life forever.  I will surely miss my Saint John's family, but in my heart, you will always be. Here, I have learned that ‘no matter who you are, how you are, what you are, and where you are, experiencing God is Existence itself in a community of faith.'

P. S. I wish to take this opportunity to give my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all the donors and friends who have supported me through their scholarship and prayers. It is with much joy that I dedicate my success to their constant support. Thank you

The impact Saint John’s Graduate School of Theology and Seminary has across the world is truly unending. Our graduates wholeheartedly continue to bring comfort to the suffering and hope to the hopeless, affirming the sacred value and dignity of all people everywhere.
