Village Approves Two LEAP Awards with Lindenhurst Businesses

Recently, the Village approved two Lindenhurst Economic Assistance Program (LEAP) awards for Three-Legged Brewing and Lindenhurst Animal Hospital.

Three Legged Brewing: Three Legged Brewing is an up and coming cold brew coffee company. LEAP program money will help Three Legged Brewing establish the first cold brew brewery in Chicagoland at the Lindenhurst Center to can their cold brew and operate a retail storefront.

Lindenhurst Animal Hospital: LEAP program money will be used to assist the Lindenhurst Animal Hospital in their project of enclosing the existing dog run area. The enhancement, which requires substantial improvements and construction, aims to provide a more comfortable environment for a greater number of dogs to use the facility throughout the year.

Village Approves Amended Development Agreement for Remainder of Heritage Park Subdivision

At the Village Board Meeting on December 11, the Village Board approved a series of agreements to move forward with an amended development agreement to build out the remaining townhome buildings as part of the Heritage Park Subdivision, located near Country Place and Route 45.

Lennar Homes- Townhome Building Elevation

The Heritage Park Subdivision was originally approved by the Village in 2006, with the intent of Pulte Homes to build 35 residential buildings. After constructing 16 out of the 35 units, the development of the remaining units stalled. After years of inactivity, the property was sold to Lennar Homes to complete the development and assume all responsibilities to make improvements to the property. Lennar Homes intends to construct the remaining 19 buildings of the Heritage Park development. The remaining buildings that Lennar will construct will have a similar architecture that will complement the development. Lennar Homes plans to build three-bedroom units instead of the original two-bedroom units while maintaining the same number of dwelling units as originally approved.

Police Department Hosts Annual Shop with a Cop Event

The Lindenhurst Police Department's annual Shop with a Cop program was a huge success! Members of the Lindenhurst Police Department, with the help from the Antioch Police Department, Grayslake Police Department, and the Lake County Forest Preserve Police Department, hosted 22 children in our community for pizza, holiday cookies, and even a special meet and greet with Santa. After enjoying some holiday festivities, officers took the kids to Target to shop and get gifts for themselves and their families.

A huge thank you to our generous residents, businesses, and supporters for their donations to the program. Together, our program has helped make a difference in the lives of the children and families who participate in the Shop with a Cop program during the holiday season.

Winter Weather Tips

Winter is here! Please keep in mind the following safety tips as we continue through the season:

  • Winterize Your Home: Insulate your walls and attics, and seal windows and doors to conserve heat.
  • Protect Your Pipes: Insulate your pipes in unheated areas. Make sure your home thermostat is set at the same temperature both during the day and at night.
  • Travel Safely: Before leaving the house, check the weather to learn about the conditions. Avoid unnecessary travel during winter storms. Remember to drive cautiously and keep extra distance between cars.
  • Wear Protective Clothing Outside: Wear multiple layers of clothing, a hat, and gloves to protect against cold temperatures and wind.
  • Car Safety: Before cold weather strikes, it is important to check your battery, fluids, and tires. Make sure to have an emergency kit in the car that includes blankets, a flashlight, snacks, a first aid kit, and jumper cables.
