Student Spotlight: Tennis at HES

HJSHS is celebrating the spring season by promoting inclusivity and recognizing diverse abilities through hands-on training at the newly renovated campus tennis facility. Under the leadership of Wayne Lilley, President of Public Tennis, Inc., he and his dedicated team of volunteers work closely with students from Mr. Mosquito's and Ms. Neetha's classes, teaching adaptive tennis techniques. Mr. Lilley has been instrumental in updating and preparing the tennis courts, ensuring they are ready for our students to enjoy and benefit from.

The Jasper County School District is proud to be home for a Unified Champion School (UCS), demonstrating a commitment to creating an inclusive environment for all students.

Special thanks to Mr. Jefferson and Mr. Raley for allowing our students to participate in this program at the Hardeeville Campus.

Student Spotlight: A Night to Shine

"A Night to Shine" is an unforgettable worldwide celebration event centered on God's love, honoring and valuing people with special needs. Students were dressed in formal attire and their Sunday's best clothing. Each student was accompanied by a personal escort as they entered the church. The event is hosted each year on the Friday before Valentine's Day by churches across the world (50 states and 72 countries). The Tim Tebow Foundation started "A Night to Shine" 11 years ago.

This year's event was held at Lowcountry Community Church in Bluffton, SC.

Students were all given gifts and a crown. Participants walked down the red carpet as they entered the facility. The students participated in activities such as dancing, karaoke, helicopter rides, trolley rides, limousine rides, fire truck visits, photography, games, arts and crafts, and more. Parents/caregivers had a relaxing evening enjoying a meal and activities planned just for them.

"A Night to Shine" was indeed a night to shine and a night to be remembered.

Student Spotlight: RSAE Dual Enrollment Students Give Back

High School Students Tutor and Support Middle School Peers in Math and ELA.

High school dual enrollment students have been actively contributing to their school community. During breaks in their schedules, these students provide valuable tutoring and support to RSAE middle school students in math and English Language Arts (ELA). Guided by teachers and working with small groups, the high school students reinforce classroom concepts, explain difficult problems, and teach younger students how to apply critical and analytical thinking skills to standards-based problems.

This initiative not only helps middle school students grasp challenging concepts but also fosters a collaborative and supportive learning environment. The dedication of these high school students is making a significant impact on their peers and the overall school community.
