This year, thanks to your donations to the Moraga Education Foundation, MEF was able to grant $2.55M to the Moraga School District and Campolindo. Your donations make a significant impact at our schools. Read below to see how your generous gifts create possibilities for every student, every day in Art and Music from TK until graduation. Thank you!

Elementary Art and Music

MEF grants fund the art teachers and music teachers, ensuring that all students receive a weekly art lesson (TK-5) and a weekly music lesson (K-5) from a credentialed teacher. When students reach 4th and 5th grade, they have the opportunity to play a band or string instrument or to sing in the choir.

"Art and music foster growth in a number of essential skills like creativity, problem-solving, risk-taking, confidence, empathy, motor skills, development of ideas and opinions, accountability and collaboration, and so much more.

"Seeing students perform is always a highlight of my year. Having a daughter who performs in the Campolindo Choir program, I'm able to witness firsthand the impact of our elementary music program. What might look (and sound!) a little awkward for ten-year-olds is the planting of seeds that, in later days, months, and years, can provide a lifetime of joy."

Art and Music at Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School

From sixth graders taking music and art in Wheel, to Ceramics, Art Making, Concert Band, Concert String Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Orchestra Sinfonia, and Chorus, your MEF contributions make it possible for Moraga's middle school students to continue their art and music education.

"I don't know a single musician who has played a perfect performance. Good. Great. Never perfect. Learning to accept that there is amazing beauty to be found in something that has flaws is an important lesson."

Robert Todd

JM Music Teacher

"The current focus in the Art/Clay class revolves around the creation of coil vessels and illustrated book boxes in clay. Concurrently, students are immersed in the exploration of art history, producing papers that delve into the processes and inspirations of their favorite artists."

"Making art is as much about facing inward as it is about facing outwards. The artmaking process allows them to understand themselves through the creative process and to see themselves as artists. The act of making things boosts both confidence and a sense of identity, which are so crucial at this phase in a student's life as they are furthering to understand the world around them and their place in it. Making art is deeply comforting to students."

Justin Seligman

Campo Video and Art Teacher

"My goal as a teacher is to connect with every single student on a personal level which will allow them to feel comfortable sharing their voice. I also believe that when we work hard and create something great, it inspires others to want to be involved. The study of varied music spanning many historical periods, cultures, and styles fosters a broad appreciation that instantly connects our students with musicians worldwide."

Mark Roberts

Campo Choral Music Teacher

"Drama and Theatre Arts classes create a community for students. This is something special that does not take place in many spaces on campus. Students can express their genuine personalities in a safe and welcoming environment."

2023-2024 Giving Campaign Update

We are so grateful to all of you who have donated to the MEF Giving Campaign so far this year. Thank you! Unfortunately, we are still not on track to reach our goal of $3M.

For the last two years, the MEF grant to our local schools has been flat, while costs continue to rise. To make matters worse, the financial outlook for the state of California is not good, and this will certainly impact the funding our schools receive next year.

To continue to fund the incredible programs that our students and families have come to expect, we need the entire community to help reach our fundraising goal for the year. Please support Moraga schools by making a donation today!

Donate Today!

You can make a one-time donation, set up a monthly payment plan, or make a pledge to donate before the end of the campaign. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law. Remember to see if your company will match your donation!
