Dear Colleagues,
As we near the end of another transformative year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable work that each of you has contributed to our college community. Your efforts have made a profound difference, and I am deeply grateful for all that you do.
Whether it’s through the meticulous care you’ve given to developing impactful and sustainable programs, the unwavering support you provide to our students, or the dedication shown in advancing our work in diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, accessibility, and anti-racism (DEISAA), your commitment is evident in every corner of our institution. Together, we are creating a college that truly embodies a safe haven for our students, especially during these uncertain times when they look to us for hope and stability.

Your work has led to countless positive outcomes across the college. We’ve strengthened our resources, amplified the voices of our students, and enriched the fabric of our campus through inclusive practices and policies. These achievements are a testament to the power of collaboration and the shared vision that drives our team forward.
As the holiday season begins, we enter a time to celebrate and reconnect with loved ones. Over the next three months, various holidays will provide opportunities for reflection, joy, and togetherness. I hope each of you can take time to rest, recharge, and cherish moments with your families and friends.
Thank you once again for all that you do to make our college a beacon of opportunity and a community where everyone belongs. Your dedication and passion inspire me every day.
Wishing you a joyful and restorative holiday season!
Warm regards,
Vince Rodriguez, Ed.D
President

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THE 2025-2026 FAFSA
The Department of Education (ED) has announced changes to the 2025-26 FAFSA release schedule due to ongoing issues with the 2024-25 FAFSA Simplification. While October 1 is traditionally the date the FAFSA becomes available, this year ED will implement a **phased rollout** starting on October 1, with a full launch by December 1.
Here are the key details:
1. Phased Rollout – Starting October 1
- The rollout will initially include a small group of students and schools.
- This phase allows ED to identify and resolve any issues before a wider release.
- More students will be gradually added to the testing group throughout the phased rollout.
2. Full Launch – December 1
- By December 1, the FAFSA will be available to all students.
- The full launch will include all features, allowing for complete form submission and processing.
By December 1, the FAFSA will be available to all students.
The full launch will include all features, allowing for complete form submission and processing.
Per ED, this phased rollout approach aims to ensure a smoother FAFSA experience by addressing potential issues early. The goal is to prevent extensive disruptions when the form becomes fully accessible to all students on December 1.
November 15, 2024 Update
The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has announced that the phased rollout of the new FAFSA has entered its fourth and final testing phase. This decision follows positive feedback received from students, families, and college access groups during earlier phases. As part of this final testing phase, ED has expanded access to the 2025-26 FAFSA form, allowing all students to submit their applications starting today, November 15, 2024.
The official full launch of the 2025-26 FAFSA form is set for December 1, 2024. Students are strongly encouraged to submit their FAFSA as early as possible to maximize their eligibility for financial aid, as some programs and funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
To support students during this process, we will be hosting FAFSA workshops to assist them in completing their applications. These workshops will provide step-by-step guidance and answer questions students may have about the new simplified FAFSA process. Please see the workshop schedule on our website.
Please help spread the word to ensure students take advantage of this opportunity to secure financial aid for the 2025-26 academic year.

CONGRATULATIONS TO HECTOR JIMENEZ, TRAVELING DOLPHIN WINNER FOR OCTOBER!
Classified Senate is pleased to announce that Hector Jimenez has been awarded the Traveling Dolphin Award for October 2024. Yesenia was nominated by prior recipient Vanessa Ayala, who shared the following:

I am honored to present the Traveling Dolphin Award to Hector Jimenez. Hector is ALWAYS willing to lend a helping hand in and out of work. Hector was one of the first colleagues I met when I started here at Coastline almost 2yrs ago and while he wears many hats: Custodian, mailman, friend, hanger of the holiday decor up in high spots I cannot reach (haha), he is there to help! His eagerness to learn and add new jobs and trainings to his title is what a great classified professional does, and Hector shows that from the early hours of the morning when he arrives till, he leaves. From helping me locating missing packages for students, keeping the ants out of our office and bringing back amazing souvenirs from South America, Congratulations Hector! You inspire the good in people with your contagious smile and friendly/welcoming presence. Keep generating those good vibes.
Please join us in congratulating Hector!
