(Smoke Alarms & Fire Education Resources) program gives out one free smoke alarm and one free carbon monoxide detector to Moreno Valley families in need.

Residents can stop by City Hall at 14177 Frederick Street during business hours and receive a free Fire Safety Pack with one smoke alarm and one carbon monoxide alarm. Please note that proof of Moreno Valley residency is required.

Report Roadside Issues Directly to CalTrans

Did you know there's a way you can directly report issues along freeways to Caltrans?

Caltrans has an easy-to-use online tip line if you see graffiti, encampments, or other issues alongside freeways, underneath overpasses, and near off and on-ramps. Check out the Caltrans tipline at https://csr.dot.ca.gov/, indicate the nature of the report, pinpoint the location, and submit! It’s that easy!

Caltrans customer service requests are handled Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Once an issue is reported, the issues are routed to the nearest Caltrans maintenance facility for evaluation and resolution.

Please note that the Caltrans tip line is NOT meant for reporting highway accidents or emergencies, which should be reported to 911 or the California Highway Patrol.

Pet of the Week: Roscoe

Our Pet of the Week is Roscoe, a three-year-old tri-color Parson Russell Terrier mix. He's sweet and a little shy at first but quickly becomes more outgoing and playful when there's a toy or treat around! Roscoe is comfortable on a leash and gets along well with other dogs.

If you would like to make Roscoe or any pet from the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter part of your family, please contact the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter at 951.413.3790 or visit www.moval.org/pets.
