Colorado State University Pueblo Choir to perform at 80th Colorado Music Educators Association Convention in 2024

The Colorado State University Pueblo Choir is proud to announce their upcoming performance at the 80th Colorado Music Educators Association (CMEA) Convention at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. This is a milestone for the choir as they are eligible to perform at the CMEA Convention once every eight years. The CSU Pueblo Choir performance is set for January 26, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. in Broadmoor Hall B.

The choir will perform “American Credo,” an original composition from CSU Pueblo Professor of Music Dr. David Volk. The work incorporates text from Justice Kennedy’s Obergefell decision and "Borderlines," an impactful piece composed by Mari Esabel Valverde, a trans composer hailing from Texas.

“These selections underscore the university's commitment to diversity and inclusivity and highlight the rich tapestry of voices of the Pueblo community,” CSU Pueblo Director of Choral Activities Dr. Jennifer Bruton said. “We're honored to showcase our talented students in front of a statewide audience and grateful for the chance to perform and represent our institution and community at this conference."

The conference is a renowned gathering of music educators and enthusiasts from across the state of Colorado. It provides a unique platform for showcasing the remarkable talents of student musicians and choir members.

CSU Pueblo CyberWolves Dominate 4th Annual MWCC, Securing Top Honor in Cyber Security Excellence

CSU Pueblo's CyberWolves, a nationally ranked cyber security team, secured the top spot at the Mountain West Cyber Challenge on December 2nd, 2023. The competition featured 35 teams with a total of 130 participants. The CSU Pueblo CyberWolves Red Team secured the coveted first position, replicating their outstanding performance from the 2020 MWCC games. Additionally, CSU Pueblo's Team Purple and NOOBs Team also demonstrated their expertise, earning placements among the top 35 teams in this highly competitive event.

CSU Pueblo's CyberWolves Red Team achieved an impressive score of 1850 points, significantly surpassing the second-closest contender who accumulated a total of 1150 points. The competition entailed a rigorous 7-hour round of Cyber Security Capture the Flag (CTF). Noteworthy is the fact that this event was conducted entirely online, leveraging Deloitte's esteemed Cyber CTF platform as the host. This competition is another excellent opportunity for students to obtain real-world hands-on cybersecurity experience in a variety of areas such as web security, network security, cryptography, reverse engineering and others.

The CyberWolves, a dedicated student organization committed to advancing cyber security expertise and cultivating both defensive and offensive security skill sets, actively participates in individual and team-based cyber security competitions. By engaging in these competitions, CyberWolves seek to acquire valuable workplace experience and establish connections with peers in the cyber security domain.

Notably, the CyberWolves have achieved a prominent national ranking, reaching as high as #3 among their peers in the competitive landscape of cyber security teams. This accomplishment emphasizes their commitment to excellence and highlights their ongoing contributions to the dynamic field of cyber security.

Next year's event will be the 5th Annual MWCC competition on the first Saturday in December 2024.

Give and Gig

On behalf of the Give and Gig Committee

It is with great pride and joy that we announce our annual “Give & Gig” event, a fundraiser for charity. Since our first “Give and Gig”, we have partnered with the Pueblo County Boys and Girls Club, CASA of Pueblo and the Pueblo Cooperative Care Center; raising funds, collecting food donations, toys and clothing, and “adopting” thousands of children to fulfill their Christmas wish and needs list. “Give & Gig” is a collective effort of friends and family and businesses, who simply want to make a difference in their community.

We are not a non-profit organization. All overhead costs are paid out of pocket by friends and family, or by our generous sponsors. One hundred percent of all funds raised, and gifts collected are donated directly to the non-profits we sponsor and monitored by the organizations at the Give and Gig event. We help coordinate these efforts.

There is a Christmas tree located in the Administration building (2nd Floor, in front of the Admissions Office) where YOU can find a stocking on the tree with instructions:

STEP 1: SELECT A STOCKING FROM THE TREE (COMMITT TO THIS, DO NOT LET A CHILD’S STOCKING WISH GO UFULFFILED)

STEP 2: PURCHASE GIFT, EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED ON THE STOCKING

STEP 3: RETURN THE GIFT-IN GIFT BAG WITH THE ORIGINAL STOCKING BY DEC. 16 TO THE MARKETING OFFICE (ADMIN 320, 3RD FLOOR) OR BRING TO THE GIVE AND GIG ON DEC. 17
