Uma Krishnan, a beloved wife, mother, teacher, and friend, passed away on November 24, 2024, after a courageous six-year battle with breast cancer. She was 71 years old.
Born in Malaysia, Uma’s journey was one of love, resilience, and generosity. After marrying Mohan, she moved to the United States, where they built a beautiful life together. She was the devoted and loving mother of her two cherished sons, Ashwin and Naveen, who brought her endless joy and pride.
Uma was a woman of many talents and passions. She excelled professionally as a research scientist, entrepreneur, and later as an elementary school science teacher at Torrey Hills School. Her students, their parents, and her colleagues admired her deeply for her kindness, dedication, and enthusiasm for learning.
An avid reader and a lover of life’s simple joys, Uma found fulfillment in her community. She volunteered at Del Mar Community Connections (DMCC) and helped collect fruits for the local food bank. She also had a wide circle of friends who shared her love for hiking, playing Mahjong, and enjoying Bridge games.
Uma’s vibrant spirit touched everyone she met, and her legacy is one of warmth, strength, and a life lived fully. She retired early due to her illness but continued to inspire those around her with her grace and determination.
She is survived by her husband, Mohan, her sons, Ashwin and Naveen, and a community of friends and loved ones who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
May her soul rest in peace and her legacy shine brightly in all who knew her.
Gifts in Uma's memory can be made to the ASPCA.
Remembrance shared by Mohan Krishnan.
