BIG 4 TRAIL CLEAN UP

We appreciate the Boone County Invasives Cooperative and Master Gardeners of Boone County Indiana as they helped to remove invasive honeysuckle from the Big 4 Trail! These volunteers not only removed harmful plants, but they also picked up trash and planted native seeds.

The Big 4 Trail will soon be sprouting:

  • Blue False Indigo - helps improve soil health
  • Common Milkweed - an essential plant for Monarch butterflies
  • Grey-headed Coneflower - provides food for birds & helps soil erosion
  • Ironweed - a vital plant for our native bees & other pollinators
  • Red & White Oak Trees - trees that are native to Indiana

SNOW REMOVAL TIPS

When the snow starts to fall, we all play a role in keeping our streets clear and safe.

Here are a few simple tips to help make the season easier for everyone:

  • Move Vehicles Off the Street- Keep parked cars off the road to allow plows to clear the streets more effectively and safely.
  • Don’t Pile Snow in the Street- Avoid piling snow onto the street when clearing your driveway.
  • Clear a Path to Your Mailbox- Ensure mail carriers can reach your mailbox by keeping pathways leading to your mailbox clear. A simple path can make a big difference, and sometimes, mail or deliveries can't be delivered if the path is blocked!
  • Sign Up for SMART911- Stay informed with weather updates, traffic alerts, and other important public safety information by registering for SMART911.
