Showstopper's Second Chance

Through March 7, all donations to our emergency donation match will be doubled by our friends at PCI Service Company
We aren't sure for how long Showstopper had been surviving by herself, but each day must have been hell. She had no reliable source of food, water or shelter and no medical care to help soothe her painful, itchy skin.
Thankfully, a Baltimore resident spotted sweet Showstopper and called our partners at Baltimore City Animal Control. Officers rushed Showstopper directly into the hands of our skilled and caring medical team, who began to treat her various ailments: a severe case of demodex mange that has affected nearly every part of her body, ulcerated paw pads and an ear infection.

Already, just a week after her arrival, Showstopper is starting to feel better. Her paw pads are healing well, and the fur on her skin is beginning to regrow into a beautiful honey color.

She’s a tough little cookie! Imagine how amazed she will be when she feels better and a lucky family falls deeply in love with her. It's only tennis balls, peanut butter treats and snuggles from here on out.

This sweet girl really needs your help to make it happen.
Critical medical care for our animals is the largest portion of the BARCS budget. It’s where funding for our shelter is always greatly needed. With increased donations, we can save more and more animals—which is why they need you.

Our friends at PCI Service Company, a division of Power and Combustion Incorporated, want to make sure that animals' needs are met. To support our lifesaving mission, they have generously pledged an emergency match for all donations, dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000 through March 7.

How we will use your donation to save lives:
$25 turns into $50
to provide vaccines, a flea treatment and a comprehensive medical exam for one abandoned or stray animal

$50 turns into $100
to feed five animals with special medical diets for one week

$100 turns into $200
to provide care and nutrition to a litter of motherless kittens or puppies

$500 turns into $1,000
to save the life of a pet who came in as a critical, overnight emergency

Your gift today of $10, $20, $50 or whatever you can comfortably afford will give a homeless animal like Showstopper a second chance so that they never live another day without medical care, shelter and, most importantly, love.

Please consider a monthly pledge:
When you give, please consider making your gift a monthly donation. As an essential service and an open-admission shelter, BARCS continues to take in and care for hurting and helpless animals in our community. We are still welcoming new animals in our shelter each and every day. It is because of our dependable monthly donors, our Constant Companions, that we know each day what funding we will have to get us through.

BARCS is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization operating Maryland’s largest animal shelter and pet adoption center. We are an open-admission shelter, granting refuge to 10,000 abandoned, neglected, abused, lost or surrendered animals each year. No matter what the circumstance, we do not turn away any animal in need of shelter, food, medical care and a loving touch. Each year, BARCS is growing, evolving and working to implement new innovative programs that benefit animals in need and the neighborhoods that support them.
