DONATE TO THE BCLCA AUCTION - BENEFITING CARE CAMPS FOUNDATION
For the past four years, the BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association has hosted an annual online auction in the spring to raise funds for the Care Camps Foundation. This amazing organization provides specialized oncology camps where children battling cancer can forget their treatments and simply enjoy being kids. Over the years, we've raised more than $20,000 for this worthy cause.
How You Can Help:
Email Participation - Contact Darlene at Darlene@bclca.com to specify your donation for the 2025 Online Auction, which will run throughout May.
Donation Ideas - We are looking for donations such as weekend stays in cabins, yurts, glamping spots, cottages, as well as gift cards for major retailers, coffee shops, breweries, pubs, restaurants, attractions, and more.
Fundraising Ideas -
- Host a pledge day at your campground and donate 25 cents from every item sold in your store for a day.
- Organize a bingo day and contribute the proceeds to Care Camps.
- Need more ideas? Email Darlene for additional fundraising suggestions.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to our auction so far. Stay tuned for more exciting opportunities to support the Care Camps Foundation.
Together, we can make 2025 a brighter year for these children!

CANADIAN RV AND CAMPING MONTH. CELEBRATE IN JUNE!
The annual Canadian RVing and Camping Week has shifted focus from a post-May long weekend event to a month-long celebration in June.
Dates: June 1 – June 30, 2025
This expanded month long initiative will foster broader participation from members, increase media exposure, generate political awareness through official proclamations, and encourage campgrounds to offer special promotions and events that elevate the profile of the RV and camping industry across Canada. This initiative will continue to include a charitable component to support Care Camps, further aligning the camping community with giving back to those in need.
Get Involved!
We encourage all members to start planning their promotions and campaigns now. Here’s how you can participate:
-
Host Events: Organize family fun days, outdoor movie nights, or adventure weekends. Partner with local businesses to create unique experiences, like guided hikes or kayaking tours.
-
Offer Promotions: Provide discounts or special packages for campers and RVers during the month.
-
Spread the Word: Utilize the marketing toolkit provided by CCRVA, including social media templates, flyers, and branded hashtags like #RVandCampingMonth.
-
Support Care Camps: Incorporate a charitable element by hosting fundraisers or donating a portion of proceeds to Care Camps, helping children with cancer attend oncology summer camps.
More information on enrollment will be released soon. Let’s make Canadian RV and Camping Month a celebration to remember!

AMENDMENTS TO PART 5 OF THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATION
New requirements now in effect
As of February 3, 2025, amendments to Part 5 of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulation, relating to emergency planning for hazardous substances, are in effect. These amendments broaden and enhance existing requirements to minimize risks to workers and other persons posed by emergencies involving hazardous substances.
Below is a summary of the information and resources available to help employers meet the new requirements.
Updated OHS Regulation and OHS Guidelines
We have updated sections 5.97 to 5.104 of the OHS Regulation, as well as related sections of the OHS Guidelines.
New and revised guidelines are posted for a 60-day preliminary period, during which time stakeholders can give feedback and request revisions by visiting the Current Public Hearings & Consultations page.
Emergency planning: Inventory of hazardous substances template
As an employer, you’re required to maintain an inventory of hazardous substances at your workplace that could endanger people in an emergency. You can use the Emergency planning: Inventory of hazardous substances template to create your hazardous substance inventory.
Emergency planning: Risk assessment template
You’re also required to assess and document the risk that any hazardous substances would pose in your workplace if there was an emergency. The Emergency planning: Risk assessment template includes key questions for you to consider as you conduct your risk assessment for the substances you identified in your inventory.
