Welcome to the Friday Waypoint where you'll find the latest updates about opportunities & activities with the Florida Trail Association.
Tracey Canal Bridge Completed and Trail Relocated
The FTA and the Highlanders Chapter completed the Tracey Canal bridge and trail relocation at the end of March, capping up a multi-year effort to relocate the trail off of Maggie Jones Road.
This effort eliminated .5 miles of road walk adjacent to the Seminole State Forest. In addition, the trail was slightly changed on nearby Camp La No Che, removing another .3 miles of road walk. These changes greatly improve the trail route.

The bridge construction was a milestone for the FTA as this was the first staff led project without the assistance of Framing our Community where we utilized heavy equipment and air jetting capabilities.
With the support and partnership of the Forest Service, the success of this project sets the stage for more complex construction jobs accomplished by FTA staff and volunteers. Thank you to all who helped see this project to completion!
Farewell, Gabe!
We are sad to say goodbye to our recent Technical Advisor Gabriel Pelegrina as he departs from his seasonal position with us and prepares to embark on an amazing bicycle journey around the United States.

Gabe brought such incredible talent and joy to our trail season this year and he will be missed by our staff and volunteers that he worked with. You may have seen him all over the state working at various Volunteer Work Parties or construction projects, and if you did you will certainly remember his flare for working in the kitchen and of course, getting his boogie on. Go Gabe!
