Retaining Wall Construction

On-Ramp From MacArthur to SB SR-55 To Close

WHAT:

Crews will be constructing a retaining wall adjacent to the on-ramp from MacArthur Boulevard to southbound SR-55. This work requires removing asphalt and installing temporary shoring.

Crews will close the MacArthur on-ramp to SB SR-55 to safely access the work area.

WHEN:

The on-ramp is expected to be closed on weeknights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning as early as Thursday, Dec. 7, and continuing for approximately two weeks.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
