Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Earlier this month, a 44-year-old woman was thrown to the ground in Corona and repeatedly kicked and punched in the head and upper body.

We live in the most diverse county in the country, perhaps the most diverse place in the world. Our racial, ethnic, religious and cultural diversity is what makes Queens such a unique and special place to live.

Hate-motivated acts of intimidation and violence have no place in our communities. We cannot allow our values to be threatened with violence.

We will be prosecuting the hate-attack in Corona aggressively. Charges against the alleged assailants were filed this week. They face up to four years in prison. Last year, we secured dozens of indictments on hate-crime charges and secured prison terms for violent, dangerous haters.

My top priority will always be keeping you and your loved ones safe.

In Friendship,

Melinda Katz

Mock Trial Competition
I am pleased that the 8th Annual Mock Trial Competition convened in person for the first time since I took office. Fifteen quartets from 15 law schools competed in front of prosecutors, judges and members of the defense bar. First-place winners Rutgers School of Law (left) and second-place finishers Drexel University, Thomas R. Kline School of Law (right) were exceptional throughout the three-day tournament.
St. Pat's for All Parade
The St. Pat's For All Parade welcomes everyone to celebrate Irish immigrant history and heritage in Sunnyside and Woodside. I was honored to be there last weekend. It is one of the best St. Patrick's Day parades in our borough.

I attended the Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation America's annual gala which was a combined commemoration of International Women's Day, Black History Month and Mini UN Music & Cultural Festival celebration.
Rosedale Jets
I recently attended the Rosedale Jets 61st Annual Black-Tie Awards Banquet. This organization has been connecting generations of young people with positive role models and developing their leadership potential. I am happy to support their efforts with a Queens DA Youth Development and Crime Prevention grant.
