YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

FOR MARCH 8, 2023

Living Out Our Vision This Week

Worship with your DCPC family at 8:45 am (in Lingle Chapel, traditional), 9:45 am (in the sanctuary, informal), or 11 am (in the sanctuary, traditional).

Youth Music is preparing for Youth Sunday this Sunday at 4:30 pm in the Choir Room!

DCPC Youth will be assisting our children's ministry folks with Easter Egg Hunts for preschool & elementary aged kids on March 31st and April 8th.

Vacation Bible School this year is returning in inter-generational form this summer on June 10 & 11 and we're looking for youth volunteers in several areas! Click here to see the roles that are available and to sign up.

SUNDAY SCHOOL: MARCH MANDONESS

This month in Screen & Scripture we're returning to a galaxy far, far away to spend some time with The Mandalorian. Join us on Sundays 9:45-10:45 am in the Youth Lounge as we explore what it means for the hunter to become a protector and what that change of heart means for those who follow Christ. Don't forget that S&S is intergenerational and open to youth and adults!

SUNDAY SCHOOL: GEN Z & MENTAL HEALTH

This Sunday we'll take a look at the research, consider possible causes, and situate the data within the wider picture of how all generations are coping with the pandemic, isolation, societal upheaval, and everything else we've been experiencing since the turn of the century (hint: it's not just Gen Z who is struggling).

Youth Group

5:30 - 7:00 pm in the Congregation House

8TH GRADERS

Confirmation continues this Sunday! We will be introducing some of the big ideas for upcoming weeks of Confirmation and talking about what justice is, why God cares so much about it, and why we get to care about it too.

YOUTH GROUP FOR EVERYONE ELSE

Youth Sunday is students' opportunity to discover what worship is really about by creating and leading every part of the worship service. This year's Youth Sunday is March 26th so we're going to spend time at Youth Group on March 12th & 19th planning and practicing in small groups to get ready. There will also be time for food, fun, and games too. Youth Group is 5:30-7 pm in the Congregation House.

PARENT CONVERSATION

A casual get-together for youth parents is going to take place on Sunday March 12th during Youth Group! We'll gather in front of the Congregation House during Youth Group drop-off (5:30 pm) and then walk over to Mandolino's for dinner. Have a topic in mind to discuss? Let us know!

THE KITCHEN TEAM NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Every week a team of parents gathers before Youth Group to make sure we have delicious food and a welcome atmosphere for all the middle and high schoolers who will be showing up for dinner. If you have a gift for hospitality and love creating fun, delicious environments, we would love to have you serve with us! Click here to get more details and pick a Sunday.

Registration is now open for our 3 summer trips and closes on March 15th.

BAKE COOKIES FOR CONGREGATIONAL CARE

DCPC's Congregational Care committee is looking for some help with providing homemade cookies that will be served at receptions following funerals at DCPC. They would love for some youth and their families to join the list of bakers to make 2 dozen cookies 2-3 times per year. If you are interested in helping, please contact Cara Devine.

Help Us Pay for Dinner!

You may have noticed that we haven't been charging for Youth Group dinners this school year, and that's something we are glad to do! We will continue to provide dinners this year without asking students to pay because we think that creates a more welcoming environment and because it's just a lot easier for everyone to not have to deal with cash. However, we would welcome any contributions you might want to make to help us break even on meals this year. All you have to do is follow this link and select "Youth Meals" in the dropdown under "Fund."

If keeping track of what meals your kids ate at is a little more than you can deal with right now (we get it!), what about a one-time donation of $40? We are serving 16 meals January-May and most students attend will attend half of them (8) and the meals cost us about $5 each.
