PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Our March meeting was a celebration of beautiful works, in many forms. We enjoyed the stories and artwork of the spring Postcard Exchange. And we partook of the visual feast that was the work of our Creative Meet-Ups. It was fun to share in this moment and acknowledge our wonderful work. We are amazing and so talented!
These celebratory moments are essential to our well-being as artists. It is so easy to finish one project and roll right on into the next. But Celebration is important. It is a way of honoring our work and it gives us the opportunity to reflect on the work and learn from it.
It is a chance to decide where we want to go next.
For my own work, I have a celebratory ritual of naming my work. I put on some music, sit with the piece and consider all that it might mean. It is in the naming that I come to understand the work, calling it into full existence. A celebration of its place in the world. How do you celebrate your work? What brings your work to closure and frees you to begin the next big thing?
