A Day Trip to Bok Tower Gardens

Spend a relaxing day at Florida's "Best Garden" (Florida Monthly Magazine). Tour the stunning gardens designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, experience the majesty and music of the 205 ft high Singing Tower carillon, tour the Pinewood Estate, enjoy a delicious lunch at the Blue Palmetto Café, and take in the museum's exhibits. Enjoy everything at your own pace.
-When: Thursday, April 20, 2023
-Depart SAKLC at 8:30am, arrive Bok Tower Gardens at 10:30am (est.)
-Singing Tower Concert at 1:00pm
-Depart Bok Tower Gardens at 2:00pm and return to SAKLC at 4pm (est.)
-Limited to 24 people
Price: $90 per person (Includes roundtrip coach transport, gratuity, and all admission fees. Lunch is on your own.)

The Holy Land: Reflections on Pilgrimage
Taught by Rev. Kenneth Blyth

Pastor Ken was in the Holy Land from February 6-16. He has returned with photographs, memories, and reflections on his pilgrimage. Join him as he leads us on a fast-paced journey through that holiest of lands and its profoundly holy sites.

Early this year, the Council established a standing “Committee on Growth.” This is meant to serve as a standing committee with an on-going commitment to leadership in our church’s growth. The Committee will establish a number of metrics to evaluate the current investments in growth. The Committee will work closely with our new Director of Engagement and Growth, Nina Vannucci. Community Service Ministry April Drives |
|
Volunteers are needed to join our Altar Guild in preparing the trays and cup for our celebration of Holy Communion, changing the paraments for each season and holy day, and ensuring a supply of clean communion linens. The larger the team, the lighter the duties are for each member. Training is given, and Pastor Ken works closely with the team and will support you in any way he can. Pastor Ken's Weekly Bible Study |
|
Each week, throughout the year, Pr. Ken leads a Bible study on Wednesday mornings, from 11:00am-noon in-person and via zoom. The class discusses the Scripture texts assigned for the forthcoming Sunday worship services. Pr. Ken shares a calendar month of handouts in advance, so that participants can look ahead, and read the comments of Lutheran scholars prior to each session. Each week there is a good mix of lay people, and retired pastors, with each group brining their unique perspectives on life and Scripture – it’s a fun group! In-Person & Zoom Exercise Classes |
|
Exercise classes instructed by Heather Koester are both in-person and on zoom! Join us either in-person in Ogram Hall or on zoom on Mondays and Thursdays at 10:15am for classes. An additional Saturday class will be offered on April 22nd. The schedule for this Saturday class is below:

8:30am - Floor Exercises ( Pilates/ Yoga Stretch and Strengthen Class) (50 Minute Class)
9:30am - Seated Strength & Balance (30 Minute Class)
10: 15am - Strength & Balance Class (50 minute Class)
A limited supply of weights & bands are available at SAKLC. If you prefer, you may bring your own equipment. Please bring your own mat for floor exercises.
