Welcome to the Family of God

On January 7th, Jayden Pealer was received into God's Family through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism during our 8:30am worship. We rejoice with Jayden and his family.

Barb's Medical Minute

I never really understood why salt is bad for us. I mean, the body needs salt to balance the level of fluids in the body, help conduct nerve impulses and contracts and relaxes muscles.

So, how harmful can too much salt be?  A lot! As sodium increases in the blood, the body retains water to dilute it. This causes the heart to pump harder, which exerts more pressure in blood vessels, thus high blood pressure. When high blood pressure stretches blood vessels, small tears occur. Scar tissue forms, trapping injury-mending substances and plaque. Blood clots then occur, which can cause a stroke.

Eating too much salt can also damage the kidney’s ability to flush toxins and excess fluid from the body, which increases blood pressure and fluid retention, and it is a vicious cycle.

So, the goal is less than 1500 mg of sodium a day. 15% of our sodium is naturally occurring in foods, 11% via the salt shaker, and a whopping 70% comes from packaged, prepared and restaurant foods!! I guess this means bye bye Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, bacon, and McDonald’s fries! ☹

Please keep the following people in your prayers:

  • Michala Chipurnoi
  • Joanne Havner
  • Jean McMillan
  • Brad Poster
  • Crystal Reinhardt
  • Bev Roesler
  • Curtis Savenko

Prayers are lifted for the family and friends of Judi Klingsick who

passed away Monday, January 8th.

Received notes from:

  • South County Food Pantry for food and monetary donations totally $2,121.60
  • Twig for collecting items for foster care families through our Giving Tree
  • Loveland Center for $1,162.00 donation which will help give critical life skills to their participants
  • Pregnancy Solutions for support helping the care and education of hundreds of families

Your continued support to these and other area organizations is greatly appreciated.
