Dear Normandale Families,

I hope you all enjoyed a break from student drop-off and pick-up at Normandale! As we ease back into routines here are some new and old reminders about drop-off and pick-up.

NEW REMINDERS:

  • Do not use the Green/South View parking lot for drop-off or pick-up.
  • The Green lot is for use by Early Childhood and South View families and staff.
  • Normandale staff do not supervise drop-off or pick-up in the green parking lot.

OTHER REMINDERS:

  • The Normandale Circle is for quick drop-offs and pick-ups only. If your student(s) needs assistance getting in or out of your vehicle, please park in the lot and walk them up to the sidewalk.
  • Please do not exit your vehicle during drop-off and pick-up.
  • Students should exit your vehicle from the passenger side only.
  • Please pull as far forward in the circle as you can before dropping off or picking up your student(s).
  • To enter the circle, use the OUTSIDE lanes of the parking lot. You may not enter the circle from the middle lane of the parking lot.
  • Please exit the circle as quickly and safely as possible. If you need to check your phone or take care of other tasks, move to the parking lot so you are not blocking the flow of traffic behind you.

For more information, check out the Normandale Traffic Plan. Thank you for helping to keep traffic moving!

DISTRICT-WIDE FOOD DRIVE APRIL 3-7

Edina Public Schools is partnering with VEAP, the Twin Cities largest food pantry, to raise funds and collect food for local families in need. Please join us next week, April 3-7, as we work to fully stock VEAP’s pantry.

When you are stocking up for the week, please add a few items for VEAP to your cart.

We will have 4 collection bins at Normandale. Locations are:

  • the main office
  • hallway near lost & found
  • hallway near the media center/playground
  • 3rd -5th grade hallway near the media center

Remind your student to drop off their donations when they arrive at school!

Edina collected 10,000 lbs. of food during last year's food drive. Let’s beat that number this year!

PARENT INPUT FORM DUE MARCH 31

Each spring, teachers and support staff meet and confer to develop class lists for the coming year, striving to create classes where optimum learning for all students can take place. It is our goal to have balanced classes across each grade level. Although requests for specific teachers are not considered, if you have information about your child that should be taken into consideration, please complete the Parent Input Form. Note that this form is optional. Additionally, information that comes in after the deadline may not be considered as the placement process will have already started. The due date for this information is Friday, March 31.

We consider many factors as we try to balance classes and accommodate individual needs such as gender balance, emotional/social combinations, performance levels, special learning needs, teaching/learning styles, and behavioral factors.

SUMMER BONJOUR CAMP

Are you interested in having your child practice French over the summer? Through the Edina Community Education program, we have Normandale teachers Madame Abdo (K), Madame Thomas (1st), Madame Heffelfinger (2nd), Madame Suglia (3rd), and Madame May (4th/5th) who will be teaching our Bonjour Camps! This is a great opportunity for our students to practice their French before the fall. Links and dates for camps are listed below.

Please note that the grade level is the grade they will be entering in the fall.

Edina Give and Go is hosting their annual event on Thursday, April 27, from 6-8pm at Braemar.

Please register (it's free and open to all) and help us raise funds for the 20% of Edina Public School students (or 1,700) who need financial support to participate in upcoming summer activities, including swimming, football, YMCA camps, tutoring, art classes, driver's ed, Kids Club, and more.

Our goal is to support every single EPS student who is facing a financial barrier so they can spend their summer learning something new, following their passions and connecting with their peers.

Do you need help paying for sports or clubs? Edina Give and Go grants up to $1,000 per student per school year to pay registration fees for sports, after school clubs or classes, tutoring, AP exams, instrument rental, drivers education, and more.
