Childhood vaccinations and vaccine safety

Explore BikeLNK's Bikeshare

In the last 15 years, bike sharing services have quickly become a staple service of most major cities around the world. There are around 50 cities with bikeshare in the US today, including Lincoln's own BikeLNK.

Lincoln’s system of on-street routes, bike lanes, and trails is one that many similarly-sized cities would envy - and BikeLNK makes it easy and affordable to use. With 21 stations in downtown and on the UNL East campus, BikeLNK is always looking for additional locations convenient for residents and visitors.

In their January highlight, BikeLNK takes you on a tour of some of its most scenic and convenient bike docking stations, located near great points of interest.

Learn more about about BikeLNK and the bikeshare system and find a place to rent your next fun ride.

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln is dedicated to providing evidence and science-based information that impacts community health. Are routine childhood vaccinations safe? The short answer is yes.

One of the sources we trust is Dr. Katelyn Jetelina, an epidemiologist and data scientist, with a Masters in Public Health and a PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She is a professor at Yale School of Public Health and author of the Your Local Epidemiologist newsletter.

Dr. Jetelina examines and translates public health issues into plain language in a thoughtful and useful way. She most recently tackled the controversy around the safety of childhood vaccinations, answering the most frequently asked questions in the attached flyer.

We recommend her YLE newsletter for the latest info on public health issues.

Improving the Health of Moms and Babies

Nebraska's infant mortality rate is worsening compared to the rest of the country, according to the latest CDC data, with Nebraska now in the lower half of states. Lack of sufficient data is major challenge to improving maternal and infant health in Nebraska.

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln President, Dr. Bob Rauner, testified before the Nebraska Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee this fall on LR433, an interim study introduced by State Senator Jen Day (District 49) to examine the availability and access to data regarding maternal and infant health care in Nebraska.

Learn more about the issue in First Five Nebraska's blog featuring Dr. Rauner.

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving and protecting the health, wellness, and fitness of Lincoln's children, families, and seniors.

We work to improve wellness policies and conduct community level health research. We collaborate with community partners to promote healthy weights through good nutrition and fitness, improve child and maternal health by supporting breastfeeding and early access to prenatal care, create better patient outcomes by increasing cancer screening and vaccination rates, improving chronic disease management, increasing preventative outreach, and standardizing clinical practices. During public health crises like the COVID 19 pandemic, we help to protect community health by providing science and evidence-based information.

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln also works to improve health equity in our community, addressing disparities among racial and ethnic populations with the highest burden of chronic disease.  Systemic racism is also a threat to community health. We stand in solidarity with everyone who is fighting for greater equality and justice for all.
