Folger Shakespeare Festival
From Lynn Wenning-Adelmann, G7 Class Teacher
On Tuesday, Grade 7 and students of the High School Theatre Club presented an excerpt from “A Winter’s Tale” by William Shakespeare at the Folger Theatre in Washington D.C. Grade 7 is studying Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets as part of their study of the Renaissance. The High School Theatre Club often presents at this annual festival.
The students enjoyed a variety of Shakespearean excerpts from other local schools, impromptu Shakespearean skits, lots of laughs, and a beautiful spring day in D.C.

Pi(e) Night - A Look at WWS Math Curriculum Through the Grades
Thursday, March 13 from 6-7:30pm
Join us this evening (the day before Pi Day!) for a serving of pie and pi, as WWS math teachers walk us through demonstrations of how we inspire a meaningful connection with math among our students by inciting wonder and curiosity about how math lives in the real world.
Throughout the evening we'll also be enjoying various savory and sweet pies, just to make sure the learning really sinks in ;)
We're going to raffle off a fabulous pie to a lucky winner. Join us!
This event is for adults only but will cover all phases of math learning at WWS, so parents of kids at any age are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Class of 2025 Senior Project Presentations
Wednesday, March 26 from 4:30-8pm
Every year, seniors may elect to do an independent project delving into a topic that particularly interests and inspires them. The process begins with a proposal at the end of 11th grade. Following approval, they work independently for about a year, supported by a mentor. Students also have a class in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 12th grade to further develop and discuss their projects. This process culminates in a public presentation for the community.
This year, 7 Seniors will present their projects on Wednesday, March 26 from 4:30-8pm, with a short dinner break. Presentations will be followed by Q&A.
The following students will present (order TBD):
- Eli Adelmann - What Makes a Car a Driver's Car?
- Sebastian Chang-Leung - Year of the Cat: A Solo Game Dev Experiment
- Isa de Michele - An iPad, an Apple Pencil, and a Dream: The Making of an Animation
- Jasper Gorokhov - Humanity and Violence in the Storm and Stress Era
- Nayila Elisha Gross - Education Inequality in US Public Schools
- Bonnie Metzger-Fleetwood - The AI Alignment Problem
- Maria Muñoz - Linguistics and its Application in Criminal Investigations
We are looking forward to a joyous evening with nervousness and anticipation... Please join us for the presentations!
Due to the topics being presented, we recommend this event for audience members in Grade 6 and above. Students, parents, and friends are invited to join us in the auditorium.

Parent Guest Lecture Thanks!
From Jennifer Robinson, LS Teacher
Grade 8 students were very fortunate to welcome current G7 parent Susan Peckham for a guest lecture on cellulose chemistry! Susan is a senior paper conservator at the Library of Congress. She brought a treasure trove of sample fibers, papers, handheld microscopes, and a paper making activity for the students to examine and gave the 8th graders a window into her work life where chemistry, art, and history all intersect. We are grateful, and always excited, for opportunities to connect our students' learning to the expertise living within our wonderful community. Many thanks to Susan!

The event’s discussion format will feature ample opportunity for Q&A. We welcome questions in advance for our speaker which may be submitted to administration@parentscouncil.org.
All PCW member school parents and caregivers, administrators, faculty and staff are invited.

We need your help to make this year’s Gala a success! Here are ways to contribute:
-
Host a Buy-In Party – Gather folks for a fun experience (dinner party, wine tasting, fitness class—you name it!), where guests buy a spot to attend. It’s a great way to connect and give back!
-
Donate an Item – We’re looking for amazing items for our auction, raffle, and donor gift bags. Think gift cards, unique experiences, specialty goods, or services—every contribution helps!
-
Become a Sponsor - Whether for businesses or families, you can bundle your tickets with your giving and receive tickets to an exclusive donor reception along with other benefits.
Your generosity directly supports WWS Financial Aid, and all donors will be recognized.
Let’s work together to create an unforgettable evening that strengthens our community and makes a meaningful impact. If you have any questions please email Erika. Thank you for being an essential part of this journey!
