According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, almost 3,500 heat-related deaths have occurred in Arizona from 2011 to 2022. In 2022 alone, a record of 671 heat-related deaths occurred. Additionally, every summer, around 3,000 people visit hospital emergency departments due to Arizona heat.


The best way to beat the heat is to stay informed on extreme heat safety actions as well as the impacts and illnesses associated with heat exposure. Learn to recognize the symptoms of heat illness and be on the lookout for them.

Pinal County Open Space & Trails to Initiate a Fire Ban in All County Parks May 1 - September 30

"Pinal County's parks, trails, and open spaces were abundant with wildflowers this Spring due to the heavy rains in the winter. With rising temperatures, the outcome is increased wildfire fuels. Taking a proactive stance, Pinal County is implementing a Fire Ban for all managed parks, trails, and trailheads. This action is necessary to reduce the opportunities of brush fires and their negative effects on park resources, visitors, and park neighbors." Now Seeking Public Comment on Draft 2023 Five-Year Transportation Improvement & Maintenance Program

Now through May 23rd, the Draft 2023 Five-Year Transportation Improvement and Maintenance Program (TIMP) for Budget Years 2022-2023 through 2026-2027 is available for public review and comment.


Updated annually, the transportation program identifies potential funding and establishes a tentative schedule for countywide planning, construction, and maintenance projects. After the public comment period, the program will be submitted to the Board of Supervisors for final approval in June.

The simple answer is that your property taxes don’t pay for roads in Pinal County. This short video explains how the public works budget comes together and how this money is used to build new roads and maintain existing roads.
