Bicycle and Pedestrian Counting
|
|
NRPC continually collects bicycle and pedestrian traffic data along sidewalks, multi-use paths, and recreational trails throughout the region. Data collected from these counts is used to analyze trends in bicycle and pedestrian activity and aid in project planning to accommodate and promote safe, non-motorized transportation and recreational travel.
We use two types of counters to gather data: One permanent counter located on the Nashua River Rail Trail, and two temporary counters. The two temporary counters are moved every two weeks and currently cover 27 locations throughout the region.
Our goal is to have counting locations in all 13 communities in the NRPC region.
Areas that can be great for counting include:
- Sidewalks
- School zones
- Multi-use pathways
- Hiking trails
- Rail trails
- Bike paths

March 28, 2023, 5:30 - 8:00PM
The utility industry is in the midst of a period rapid change and growth, and with many models of a zero carbon economy anticipating a doubling or tripling of electricity demand, the utilities will be an essential part of our clean energy future. As the utilities try to balance supply and demand, the increased complexity of variable sources of energy generation, distributed demand side technologies, and customer preferences, it is essential that we understand their challenges, their opportunities, and how they view the future. How are New Hampshire's four utilities preparing for an increasingly electrified future? Clean Energy NH's Executive Director, Sam Evans-Brown, sits down with executives from the utilities to hear more about how they are reimagining ways to operate in an ever-changing environment.

March 29, 2023, 12:00 - 1:00PM
Join Jordan Pike, PE with HEB Engineers, and Marilee Enus, Director with UNH Technology Transfer Center, who will review the latest New Hampshire Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) and speak to where the goals and critical emphasis areas directly intersect with local road agencies. Through examining crash trends, solutions, and resources, this webinar will provide modern guidance for DPW leadership, road agents, and municipal engineers to take an active role in addressing transportation concerns.
“Driving Toward Zero” is the vision for New Hampshire, and there are resources and safety countermeasures to help your municipality get there, including lower-cost measures like ditching, curve signage, and roadside vegetation management, and roadway design initiatives, such as roundabouts and road diets. Begin by learning how your town or city can participate in achieving the goals outlined in the SHSP. It’s time to step up for local road safety, by providing safer infrastructure for all roadway users.
Open to NHMA members only.
