Makerspace Grand Opening

UCSB Library is pleased to announced the much-anticipated opening of the new UCSB Makerspace, an interdisciplinary experiential learning environment that is open to all UCSB students, faculty, and staff for academic, research, or personal exploration.

The campus community is invited to a grand opening celebration from January 16th to 19th, including guided tours and workshops. Advance registration is required as space is limited.
Exhibition Opening: California Dreaming
Come to the opening event for "California Dreaming: Coming of Age in America’s Other Heartland." This new exhibition of photographs documents the intergenerational upward mobility of young residents of Dixon, California.

UCSB Reads 2024 Book Giveaway for Students
UCSB students can receive a free copy of the UCSB Reads 2024 book, Your Brain On Art: How the Arts Transform Us by Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross, while supplies last.

New Performing Arts Collection
Music enthusiast Greg Scholl donated a nearly complete collection of 78 rpm sound recordings by guitarist Agustin Barrios (pictured) to the Library's Performing Arts Collection.

Scholl made this generous gift in honor of Jody Arnhold and John Arnold, who serves as the chair of the UCSB Foundation Board of Trustees.
Open Access Transformative Agreements Discussion Forum
The Library invites faculty, graduate students, and other UCSB authors to join our Open Access team for a conversation about open access publishing, UC's transformative agreements, and UCSB Library's Open Access Publishing Fund.
