Adult Formation

During Lent the Adult Formation program will be exploring the Book of Acts. We will look at chunks of the book each Sunday and talk about the earliest days of the Church.

Adult Formation meets in the parish hall on Sunday from 9:30 to 10:15

The outline of what we will be exploring is:

March 23: Acts 8:26 – 11:18

March 30: Acts 11:19 – 14:28

April 6: Acts 15:1 – 28:31

There will be no adult formation on April 13, 20 or 27

Children's Formation

Dear God,

Thank you for your son, Jesus. The day he was hurt was very sad. Thank you for always being with me, especially when I am hurt. Please let my love always be stronger than my anger.

Amen

Our Lent project in Children's Formation focuses on the Stations of the Cross. The Stations of the Cross consist of 14 stations that depict key events in the Passion of Christ, from his condemnation by Pontius Pilate to his entombment. Each station is a moment for prayer and reflection and is a devotion of hope that allows us to reflect on Jesus's sacrifices.

We will explore this day in the life of Jesus as told by the children of Christ Church Cathedral in Houston Texas with their beautifully produced Stations of the Cross video.

Children's Formation will gather at 10:30 in the children's formation area on March 23 and 30. Children will join their families in the Sanctuary the during the announcements (about 11:05) to participate in the Eucharist.

There will be no children's formation on April 6, 13 or 20.

Marksmen

The Marksmen (Saint Mark’s men’s group) are meeting for dinner on Wednesday, March 26 at 6:00 p.m. at Cuco’s Taqueria (2162 W. Henderson across from City BBQ).

Please let Dwight Anstaett (614-314-4602 call or text) know if you are coming so that there are enough seats.

Saint Mark's Women's Group

Some of the Saint Mark’s women have been thinking about creating a group that would serve primarily as a social group—food and fellowship—for the women of St. Mark’s. We would meet once a month at a restaurant (no cooking!) to eat and get to know each other better. The only commitment would be to take a turn sending the email and making a reservation.

We plan to meet the last Wednesday of each month, which would place our first meeting on  Wednesday, March 26th.

Please let Marilyn Karl (mjkarl@yahoo.com) know if you are interested in this activity and if you would like to join us on the 26th. If you are able come, you’ll get an email including the place and time.

Helping Others in Lent

Helping others is a big part of Lent. This year we are collecting personal care items. We will be doing two things with these products. We will be making Grooming Bags for mothers in Vinton County through our partnership with Help Me Grow. We will also be donating them to NNEMAP where they are always in need.

There is a sheet with reflections for each week that leads to a donation each week on the arched bookcase in the parish hall. Or there are two ways that you can help:

Donate $20, which is the cost of filling one grooming bag.

Bring any of the following to church during Lent (please bring full size items).

Shampoo

Conditioner

Body Wash

Hand Soap

Toothbrush

Toothpaste

Deodorant

Disposable Razors

Confirmation

Bishop White is coming to visit Saint Mark’s on May 18, 2025 and will be Confirming, Receiving and Reaffirming the faith of interested people at the 10:30 a.m. service that day.

Here is what you need to do.

  1. Watch each of the videos on the confirmation page of the Saint Mark’s website (saintmarkscolumbus.org/confirmation) and fill out the form on that page.
  2. Attend the in-person classes on Sunday, March 30 and Sunday, April 27 from 12:30 – 1:30 pm

Youth Group

Youth Group will meet at our regular time on Sunday, April 6, following the 10:30 am service.

We will do an activity combining art and prayer and play some games. There will be pizza for lunch and we will finish up at 1:30 p.m.

Work Day

Many hands make light work! Come and join us on Saturday, April 12 to do some Spring Cleaning to make St. Mark’s look beautiful for Easter and for our congregants and visitors! There are a number of small tasks/projects to be done.

We will gather at 9am and end around noon, or when we finish the list of projects, whichever comes first. There will be indoor tasks and, if weather permits, outdoor as well. There will be a sign-up sheet when you arrive. So put the date and time on your calendar to help make our house shine!!

As an added bonus, Pastor Vicki will bring donuts from the Goodie Shoppe as an incentive for all who participate! See you all soon!!

Easter Flower Gifts

The Altar Guild will be collecting donations for Easter flowers on March 23, 30 and April 6. You can give a donation for flowers in honor of someone or something in your life or in memory of someone who has died.

You can give a donation to the Altar Guild in person in the parish hall following the 10:30 service or by using the online form.
