A Note from Jack . . .

Dear Friends,

Thank you all for the wonderful and thoughtful welcome. In any transition there are hiccups and learning curves. You have been most gracious. Really sorry about the microphone being too loud. We’ve already got a plan to make it better next time. And if the service goes overtime again, everybody gets a ticket to the Celtics playoffs for every minute it goes over..

Jesus used a microbe to explain how the realm of God works. Yeast makes bread rise. It is the leaven in the loaf. Jesus described his movement, the Way, as being a leaven in society. Each time we vote for legislation that is congruent with love, compassion, and justice we leaven society. Each time we nurture and support a nonprofit in their mission to serve those who struggle, we leaven society. Each consumer choice that is conscious of carbon footprint and just labor sourcing leavens society. Each kind word that may somehow by God’s grace unwittingly prevent a suicide or some other act of rage or despair has the potential to leaven society in a profound way. This Sunday we have the wonderful opportunity to not only become aware of ways to leaven society but be inspired by leading lights who are innovating methods of solving the problems that plague us. Welcome and encourage them and partake of their creativity. The more we can be inspired by leading lights the more we can sustain compassion for the long haul with joy. Don’t assume it’s just a commercial to prompt giving and you’ve heard it all before. Dialogue, and putting a face to a name can have profoundly transformative effects. They can be yeast to us to make us rise, even as we are yeast to them to help their mission rise. What a glorious feast awaits us in our own fellowship hall after the worship service this Sunday.. May we become a full loaf as we create a movement for the realm of God, wherever two or more gather, and love is exchanged.

DONATE SWEETS AND TREATS FOR COFFEE HOUR

Everyone enjoys having a snack at Coffee Hour, and the Fellowship Board is asking if you can help supply some of the sweets and treats. Perhaps you are baking cookies or muffins and can make some extras, or if you are shopping and can purchase an extra package of treats to share. Most popular items are cookies, muffins, bars, etc. Simply place your items in the Kitchen marked “Fellowship/Coffee Hour” and we will use them the next Sunday or freeze them for future Coffee Hours. The Fellowship Board appreciates any help, as our board provides the treats every Sunday. Thank you!!!
