Weekly Food & Yard Waste Collection Is Back!

The City of Spokane has resumed curbside yard and food waste pick-up. Remember the green cart basics: include only food scraps, food-soiled paper, and yard debris in your green cart.

SPD Announces Return of Neighborhood Resource Officers

This week marks the return of Neighborhood Resource Officers, a vital community program for City of Spokane residents. Thanks to voter approval of the Community Safety Sales Tax, SPD is pleased to announce three new Neighborhood Resource Officers: Officer Deanna Storch, Officer Micah Prim, and Officer Tyler Heiman. 2025 Natural Gas Integrated Resource Plan Virtual Public Meeting

Avista Utilities is holding a virtual public meeting on Wednesday, March 5, at noon, to gather feedback on the 2025 Natural Gas Integrated Resource Plan. This plan outlines natural gas needs for the next 20 years, focusing on reliability, cost, and environmental sustainability. It’s pothole season! Winter’s snow, ice, and rain provide the perfect ingredients to make potholes. Our Street Department continues to fill potholes year-round but we need your help. Please continue reporting potholes online at spokane311.org or by calling 3-1-1.

Horizon 2050: Spokane Region Long-Range Transportation Plan

Spokane Regional Transportation Council (SRTC) will be hosting a series of public workshops for the region's long-range transportation plan: Horizon 2050. Talk with SRTC planners and other agency staff, share your thoughts, and participate in educational transportation activities. Additionally, SRTC has launched a short survey. If you use a wood-burning stove or insert that is at least 20 years old, now is a great time to upgrade! Instant discounts of $1,000 - $2,500 are available to pre-qualified Spokane-area homeowners to help upgrade to a new wood, pellet, or gas stove or a ductless heat pump. Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge Seeking Volunteers

In April, Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge staff will be hosting single-day tree potting sessions. Volunteers will spend a half or full day assisting staff in potting native trees such as aspen, hawthorn, and cottonwood. These potting sessions are family-friendly and open to all ages. For more information about volunteering at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge or to RSVP for a tree potting session, contact Ranger Josh via email or phone.
