LumenSparQ News - Issue #8

Hello John,

This month, we celebrate the announcement of a new Lumenary, a new Ember Project team, and two new SparQs! We will share their complete stories over the coming weeks, but here's a brief preview while we have your captive reading attention.

In the picture to the right, you can see the many donations the Ember Project team raised for Safe Place for Youth, an organization focused on supporting homeless teens.

Our Newest Lumenary - Naomi Lara

We are thrilled to announce our newest Lumenary, Naomi Lara, Principal of Da Vinci RISE High, an extraordinary school that provides much-needed support to students facing various life challenges.

"Da Vinci RISE High seeks to create a highly responsive, holistic, and integrated model that meets the unique needs of youth navigating foster care, housing instability, probation, and other circumstances that have caused disruptions in their academic journeys."*

We cannot wait to share Naomi's inspiring story and her remarkable work at Da Vinci RISE in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

Ember Project - Fia, Phoebe, and Lily

This year's Ember Project winners are a team of three eighth graders focusing on helping teen girls struggling with homelessness, food insecurity, and more. They have directed their efforts to work with Safe Place for Youth, an organization dedicated to helping homeless youth in Los Angeles.

Their full story is coming shortly. In the meantime, learn more about the Ember Project here.

Two New SparQs

Shhhhh...

The two SparQs that we have selected don't even know about it yet. They were both nominated by a professor at East Los Angeles College, in Monterey Park. Each has an amazing story to tell and we are eager to share it with you in the coming weeks.

One of these young women volunteers her time with an organization dedicated to the issue of immigrant detention and the human rights violations that occur because of it. The other has created her own nonprofit to support young mothers suffering from IBD.

We look forward to sharing their hero's journey in an upcoming newsletter and on our website.

Thank you to our donors

We can only meet these incredible individuals and share their inspiring journeys because of your support. We are so grateful to all of you who have allowed us to bring these wonderful stories to life. Thank you!
