2023-2024 Academic Calendar Finalized

The Sherman ISD Board of Trustees finalized the 2023-2024 academic calendar at their regular meeting this week.


The administration recommended changes to the initial draft calendar after more than 350 staff, parents and community members completed a survey sharing their input. The revised calendar approved by the Board includes a later school start date than the initial draft, an additional exchange day for staff, and improved balance of Monday and Friday professional development days.

Career and Technical Education Month

Sherman ISD recognizes February as Career and Technical Education Month. The Sherman CTE program sets out to prepare students to graduate as skilled, credentialed, and ready for post-secondary success be it continuing onto college or entering the workforce. Besides gaining specific career-related knowledge, participants in CTE programs also learn essential life skills such as time management, problem solving, and critical thinking. Take a look at all the opportunities our students have to set themselves up for success beyond high school.

Middle School Orchestras Compete At UIL Contest

Piner and Sherman Middle Schools participated in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest and both groups brought home some significant hardware.


Piner Middle School made straight ones (Superior) across the board, earning a Sweepstakes for the year.

Fabulous Field Trips Head To First United Bank, Sherman Public Library

Some of our fabulous Dillingham Lions and Fairview Falcons traveled to First United Bank and Sherman Public Library this week as part of Fabulous Field Trips! On Tuesday, Dillingham Elementary students headed to First United Bank to learn more about how finances and money work. On Thursday, Fairview Elementary students visited Sherman Public Library to learn more about their local library and all the books and programs they offer. Thank you to First United Bank and Sherman Public Library for being sponsors!

Four LadyCat Powerlifters Qualify For State Meet

Sherman High School hosted the Region 6, 5A-DI Championship Thursday night, and 16 of our own LadyCats competed. They finished second as a team and had four qualify for the State Meet on March 18 at Frisco's Comerica Center. Congrats, ladies!

Bearcat Soccer Holds Senior Night

Bearcat Soccer seniors and their families were recognized Tuesday during their Senior Night celebration before they took on the Melissa Cardinals. The Bearcats shut out Melissa, 4-0, to cap off Senior Night.


The LadyCats have their Senior Night tonight, before they take on the Greenville Lions. Come out and support your Cats!

Five Qualify For Boys Powerlifting Regionals

Five Bearcat powerlifters qualified for the Regional meet on Saturday! They are Joseph Gionfriddo, Zailyn Butler, Colby Ray Short, Levi Ullah and LeTarian Sims. The Regional Meet will be held at Keller Central High School at 9 a.m.
