WGU Indiana is once again proud to celebrate nurses and healthcare professionals across the state with the 11th annual Night Shift Nurse campaign. The campaign, which first debuted in 2013, recognizes and celebrates nurses’ and healthcare professionals’ service in the early hours of November 5, when clocks are set back to end daylight savings time and night shift nurses and staff will have an extra hour of work.
Weeks ahead of the time change, WGU Indiana staff and faculty pack nurse appreciation kits that will be delivered to hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout the state. Each Night Shift Nurse Appreciation Kit contains a handwritten note of thanks from WGU Indiana faculty and staff along with items such as snacks, hot chocolate, pens, breath mints, lip balm, 6” medical scissors, and post-it notes.
“Healthcare workers are often the unsung champions in the trenches when we face crises, and celebrating those individuals, especially those on night shift, is an honor,” said WGU Indiana State Director of Prelicensure Nursing, Lisa Wagner, MSN, RNC-MNN.
Additionally, WGU Indiana is offering its annual Night Shift Workers Scholarship, which is valued up to $4,000 and is dedicated to night shift workers who are returning to school in any of the four WGU colleges, including Health Professions. The deadline for scholarship applications is Jan. 31, 2024.
WGU Indiana offers a wide range of accredited, online health programs and nursing school courses to help nurses and other health professionals earn additional credentials so they can improve patient care while they advance their careers. The university also has an accredited prelicensure program that prepares students to earn both their registered nurse license and their bachelor’s degree in nursing.
As a fully online university, WGU’s courses allow students to move at their own pace, lending proof to the slogan “The University of You.” With a competency-based education model that measures what you know rather than the traditional model that requires time in the classroom, students can complete their coursework without sacrificing time away from life’s many demands such as their full-time jobs and family time at home. WGU Indiana partners with healthcare providers across the state so that nursing students can complete clinical hours around life’s busy schedule.
