Become a State Leader!

A Message From the 2023-24 State Student Board Member:

If you are a current high school junior interested in making a difference in K-12 education, then this opportunity is for you! Representing California’s nearly six million students, the Student Board Member on the State Board of Education plays a crucial role in acting as a channel of communication between the State’s student population and the Board. As a full voting member, you would directly contribute to decisions affecting all K-12 students in California.

Applications are due September 22, 2023. The State Board of Education will sponsor twelve semi-finalists to attend this year’s Student Advisory Board on Education (SABE) in Sacramento (11/5-11/8) where students from all over CA will work together to create proposals addressing pertinent issues to present to the State Board of Education.

Current issues like curriculum frameworks and the achievement gap need the voice of an individual willing to advocate for the students of California. I urge you to apply for this important position!

Sincerely,

Anya Ayyappan
