The MFE Board recently approved a $5,000 direct grant to support the purchase of a professional performance piano (with risers & shells), and during the month of April is offering to match donations $1 for $1 up to another $5,000 towards the MFPA's 88 Keys for Kids Campaign. Household Hazardous Waste Day is Saturday, May 13, 2023, rain or shine, from 9:00 am. to 1:00 pm. at the Recycling Center, 46 Broad Street. (Event is for Medway residents ONLY). Please limit your items to 25 gallons or 25 pounds. It is a free drop-off service, and all the items will be removed from your vehicle! FLYER

The Board of Health would like to offer Medway residents two free virtual training sessions through the Behavioral Health and Racial Equity (BEHERE) Training Initiative of Health Resources in Action. This two-part training includes information on opioid overdose on rescue, prevention, harm reduction, and safety planning. Registration is required for both dates. Responsibilities include maintaining recreation fields, the recycling center, school grounds, parks, and open spaces. The role primarily involves grounds and landscape functions, including handwork using manual and powered hand tools. This individual will perform skilled labor and related work incidental to the assigned task and drive and operate assigned motor equipment following all applicable regulations and safety practices. On April 27 at 7pm, the Medway Public Library will host a portrayal of Frances Perkins. Guests will hear stories from the life of this woman who dedicated her career to providing exploited working men, women, and children with safe, humane workplaces. Frances Perkins pushed through legislation to reduce crushing work-week hours, helped develop a fire-safety code in New York that became a model for the country, and created Social Security. Registration suggested but walk-ins are welcome.
