ASH WEDNESDAY PRAYER
God, as you call us to return to you, help us see our shortcomings clearly. Give us the courage to return to you, to ask your forgiveness, and to receive it with humility and gratitude. May we never forget you made us from dust to return to dust. May we know your unfailing love precisely in the midst of our failures.
Amen

Food for Thought . . . and for the Soul
First Reflection
"Lord Jesus, our Savior, let us now come to you: Our hearts are cold; Lord, warm them with your selfless love. Our hearts are sinful; cleanse them with your precious blood. Our hearts are weak; strengthen them with your joyous Spirit. Our hearts are empty; fill them with your divine presence. Lord Jesus, our hearts are yours; possess them always and only for yourself."
Reflect, today, upon this call of Levi. Ponder this inner certitude he was given in that moment. Try to imagine what he experienced and what others may have thought of his choice to follow Jesus. Be open to this same grace; and if you ever feel as if God speaks to you with such clarity, be ready and willing to respond without hesitation.
Prayer
My dear Lord, thank You for calling us all to follow You without hesitation. Thank You for the joy of being Your disciple. Give me the grace to always know Your will for my life and help me to respond to You with total abandonment and trust. Jesus, I trust in You.
| |
Second Reflection
Reflect, today, upon a person you know who seems to be not only caught in the cycle of sin but has also lost hope to overcome that sin. Prayerfully surrender yourself over to our Lord and commit yourself to the charitable act of doing anything and everything you can so as to help them fully turn to our divine Lord.
Prayer
My precious Jesus, fill my heart with charity toward those who need You the most but seem incapable of overcoming the sin in their lives that keep them from You. May my unwavering commitment to them be an act of charity that gives them the hope they need to surrender their life to You. Use me, dear Lord. My life is in Your hands. Jesus, I trust in You.

The Jubilee is an experience of faith and a profound encounter with the Lord. The official Prayer allows pilgrims from all over the world to use the same words to express gratitude to God for the Jubilee experience and request the grace of forgiveness. (from jubilaem2025.va)

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
7th Sunday in Ordinary Time
February 23
“But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend without expecting anything back…”
(Luke 6:35)
| | | |
Easier said than done, right? But, if we are to imitate Christ, most of us need to practice mercy and compassion more frequently. Start with the little daily annoyances that we experience, the unkind word or hateful glance we receive. Instead of plotting revenge on that person, try saying a quick prayer for that person. Praying for our enemies doesn’t change them, it changes us. Mercy and compassion will keep us on the path to holiness.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
The shawls are meant to serve as mantles of God's gentle love and blessings. Our hope is that, as the recipients wear their shawls, they will be enfolded in love, peace, strength and comfort. If you know of someone undergoing treatment for cancer or for another serious illness and who might benefit from a prayer shawl, within our parish or beyond, please contact Laura and 604-944-9064 or ccml@telus.net.
Shawls are available by donation and please make cheque donations payable to St. Clare of Assisi Parish.

DO YOU EVER ASK YOURSELF...
What am I looking for in life?
What is the meaning of my life?
How can I be a better person?
What can I do about the loneliness I feel?
How can I come to know God's love?
How can I know the right path God has in store for me?

Mass Intentions
Dates are subject to change without notice.
| |
If you wish to book a Mass Intention, please send your request via email at stclareofassisi@shaw.ca giving the name of the person, whether it is for a living or deceased person, who it is from and if you have any preferences for the day of the week, a weekend mass or specific date. We will try to book your mass intention as close to the request as possible. Please note that there may be unforeseen situations when your scheduled date may be changed without notice.
The suggested offering for a mass intention is $10 and can be brought to the office, mailed to 1320 Johnson Street, Coquitlam, V3B 4T5 or dropped in the collection box in the church. Enclose your offering in an envelope clearly marked with the name and date of your Mass intention. Your offering will go to the priest who says the mass, not to the church.

Archbishop Carney Theatre proudly presents The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde.
The show runs March 6-8, 2025 @7PM at the Terry Fox Theatre. Tickets are $18 and are available at acrss.org
| | | |
It is the story of two young gentlemen, Jack Worthing (Valen Peyton) and Algernon Montcrieff (Joel Renaud), living in 1890's England who have taken to bending the truth in order to put some excitement in their lives. Jack has invented a brother, Earnest, whom he uses as an excuse to leave his dull country life behind to visit the lovely Gwendolyn (Keira Haley). Algernon decides to take the name "Earnest" when visiting Jack Worthing's young and beautiful ward Cecily (Alicia Malelang), at the country manor, and Lady Bracknell (Michaela Smith). Things start to go awry when they end up together in the country and their deceptions are discovered, threatening to spoil their romantic pursuits.
The goal of “Fiat” Women’s Online Discernment Group is to provide a prayerful environment for young women to discern their vocation, primarily the possible call to Religious Life. These women are given an opportunity to listen to and discuss certain topics about discernment and Religious life in general. Hopefully this Discernment Group will be a good preparation for women who are called to Religious Life to enter the community they are called to with peace and an adequate knowledge of what the Church is asking and desiring for Religious Life.
