St. Germain Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club | |
President’s Message
The trails have been brushed, signs have been added or replaced where necessary, the trail map is completed and being distributed to our supporters, and the equipment is serviced and ready to go. The final few tasks are the inspection of the trails by Vilas and Oneida counties, and the training of three new groomer drivers. Those tasks are best accomplished when we have snow on the ground. Everyone is anxious to go. As a point of reference, the earliest the trails can open is December 16th, after the antlerless deer hunting season. Now is a good time to finalize your plans. The snowmobile rental outlets and lodging facilities are now accepting reservations for this season. You can find tabs for both on the Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club website, or our trail map, or from the St. Germain Chamber of Commerce.
Do you want to have more input into the operation of your snowmobile club? It’s easy, just run for an officer or director position. The nominating committee will begin in January selecting candidates for two director positions and the four officer positions for the election in March. It is a fun and rewarding way to present your ideas, give direction, and assist in decision-making for the Club. It is important to the continued success of the Bo-Boen Club. It is also a great way to meet people interested in snowmobiling. If you have an interest or just want more information, please give me a call, or send an email. I’m asking everyone to please give this opportunity of service to your Club sincere consideration.
I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday. We all have many things to be thankful for. The Bo-Boen Club is thankful for all the support it receives from its map advertisers, the landowners, the Town of St. Germain Board, the Chamber of Commerce, and our local community. We are also thankful for all of our members, officers, directors, and volunteers that bring it all together to make St. Germain Wisconsin’s snowmobile destination.
If you can, stop by the groomer barn on Sunday, December 8th to enjoy a bowl of homemade chili and help Trail Boss Fred Suchy celebrate being named the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs (AWSC) Groomer of the Year.
You can keep up to date on Bo-Boen happenings and snowmobiling in our area by following our Facebook page and checking our website. We will post the opening date of trails on each of these. Check your snowmobile to be sure it’s ready for the season, apply for your trail pass, and check for a current registration decal.

Food Drive Collection
It’s almost that time of year to open our hearts to those less fortunate. At our annual Christmas party at the Whitetail Inn on December 12th, we will be collecting for the Vilas Food Pantry. Monetary donations are greatly appreciated, as the food pantry works with local grocers to get vouchers for meat and fresh vegetables.
Thank you to our incredibly generous Secret Santa's (Bob & Judy Schell), who will again match the cash donations collected at the party!
Non-perishable food and personal care items that are needed most are cereals, granola bars, canned meat, boxed dinners, and peanut butter; and toiletries such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. Please separate canned items from boxed items, if possible.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
If you’re reading this and coming to our December eeting at the Whitetail Inn, write your name and Merry Christmas on a small piece of paper and give it to Ed at the dinner for a chance to win a Secret Santa prize.

Boo-BBB's
Kick-Off Luncheon
Twenty-four ladies gathered at The Timbers Bar on November 20 to kick-off our riding season. We discussed some ideas on where to go on our overnight trip in January/February and also the possibility of riding on Thursdays if we can't find some restaurants open on Wednesday. A couple of ladies also volunteered to do some of the group leading.
Typically, we meet at the Groomer Barn (south end) on Wednesday mornings and depart at 9:00AM sharp to a lunch destination. Emails are sent by Janelle Ewen a few days in advance to let everyone know where we will be riding. If there are any changes to dates and times Janelle will communicate that.
Robin Lindberg presented some clothing with the original embroidered Boo-BBB's logo. An email was sent to show what items are available and instructions on ordering through Robin.
Everyone is welcome to join us on our rides and events. Any questions, contact Peggy Ausloos.

Chamber Grant
This past week, the Club was awarded a second 2024 Tourism Development Grant from the St. Germain Chamber of Commerce. This Grant is being used to purchase replacement groomer drag blades from Arrowhead Groomers. Blades are critical in smoothing out the snow, slicing up bumps, and shearing icy corners, making our network of trails smooth and silky for our riders.
We are very appreciative to receive this funding, as well as the Grant earlier this year to purchase a Groomer Plow.

TRAIL BOSS REPORT
Our trails are ready to go. We'll have the Counties give the final approval on trail inspections within the next couple of weeks. Groomer operators are itching to get out on the trails. Equipment is ready. All I can say is "Let's get cold weather to freeze things up and...Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!!!
~ Fred Suchy, Trail Boss
