Happy Thanksgiving!

The Season of Gratitude

We have much to be thankful for at Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills! It’s been a busy and productive year as we wrap up one neighborhood in Aberdeen and start building in our next community in Addor. We look ahead to an enormous project transforming how we tackle our workforce housing challenges, Sandhills Station.

We are preparing for our Holiday Luncheon to celebrate the volunteers who have spent over 50 hours with us in 2024. We know their efforts have made this mission possible. Whether they have chosen to build with us on the job site to work, in our ReStore, in our office, or on one of our fundraising committees, we are grateful for their investment in the Habitat mission. We also thank our generous donors who have participated in our fundraising in various ways throughout the year.

We want to create a community where everyone has a safe and affordable place to call home. Our annual application session was record-breaking, showing the increased need for attainable housing. Together, we represent a sustainable solution to ensure that hardworking individuals have access to housing that meets their budget without sacrificing their ability to live and work in the same community. Our local fundraising and mortgage repayments from homebuyers represent over 90% of what it takes to carry out our work each year. We are fortunate to serve in a community that recognizes the importance of home and chooses to help in whatever way possible.

You may have already received our 2024 Impact Report with additional details of how we accomplished our mission this year. We hope you will choose to invest with us again this season. Your return is the knowledge that you are creating hope for hardworking individuals trying to change the path of their future and their family’s future through home ownership. Thank you for past support, and keep an eye on us – it will be a big year!

Why are Our Family Partners Thankful?

" Firstly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to God, without whom this achievement would not have been possible. Additionally, I appreciate my therapist for informing me about the application. I am also grateful to Habitat for Humanity of NC Sandhills for providing me with the opportunity to become a future homeowner. This journey has enabled me to assist others in constructing their dream homes and meet new individuals. I am thankful for the DIY skills acquired. While challenging, faith and determination make the process achievable. My ultimate joy will be to provide a home for my son and me, a lasting legacy. Thanks to the constructors, volunteers, family, and friends who helped make our dreams come true. I highly recommend Habitat for Humanity to everyone." ~ The Stroman Family

" I am a Future Homeowner and delighted to have been selected to participate in this wonderful program and to have a home for my kids and me to call our own. This program so far has taught me that it takes time to have nice things, from being in the store sorting clothes to being on the construction site learning how to use new tools while working safely. If you are not part of this program, I recommend you join." ~  The Hubbard Family

" Having this house is a daily reminder of the value of consistency, hard work, and the habits that led me here. It is a structure of walls and rooms and a sanctuary where I can foster memories, celebrate milestones, and find a sense of security and belonging. I am deeply grateful for this incredible opportunity and to everyone who contributed to it in big and small ways. Thank you for helping me create not just a house, but a home that feels warm, inviting, and uniquely mine." ~The Armstrong Family

"I greatly appreciate and feel very blessed to be part of the Habitat program. I've been wanting a house for so long now. I've been trying and trying and trying and was always let down, or things didn't go through for me. It was so hard, and God blessed me with an opportunity to get a house built from the ground up with Habitat. Being with this program showed me a lot. I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. Thank you again!" ~ The Cordero Family

" I have two young boys, ages 12 and 10 months old. I've always dreamed of giving my kids a home they can call their own. I'm so grateful for this opportunity and experience. Over these few short weeks, I have learned a lot and met some amazing people along the way. I'm excited and look forward to everything this program has to offer. " ~The Stewart Family

Milwaukee Tools and Provision Ace Hardware

Habitat is thankful for the wide variety of business partners who contribute to Habitat's continued success. From scones to screws, each business has its unique way of supporting us, and we love it! Our Program Director and General Contractor, Farrah, met with their Milwaukee Tool representative, Joshua Trent, at the Provision Ace Hardware store in Whispering Pines. The Ace representative, Matt Wallace, introduced her to Joshua, who offered to partner with us to help supply the tools needed for our mission at Habitat. Provision Ace Hardware is a longtime partner that helps us get the best price for replacement tools for our trailers and fasteners for our home construction at a really good price.

Thank you to the Kiwanis, Key Club, and Circle K!

Serve One Saturday

The Pinecrest Key Club is making a significant difference in our community through its dedicated volunteer efforts through Serve One Saturday. On the third Saturday of the month, members come to the ReStore Habitat to sort, price, and stock donated items while enjoying a lively atmosphere that fosters camaraderie and teamwork. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sandhills Kiwanis, especially President Kathryn and David, for their unwavering support and to all the volunteers whose contributions are invaluable. Thank you all!

Important next step in Sandhills Station! Broker Partnership

We are excited to announce that we have selected two brokers to work with us on our upcoming mixed-income, mixed-use campus. C.F. Smith Property Group will lead the search for commercial partners for our general commercial and institutional space, while Carolina Summit Group will help us find our partners for the residential components of the campus that are not Habitat housing. Our goal with these partners is to create an exciting community with amenities for residents and other nearby neighborhoods. Stay tuned as this effort moves forward! To learn more or get involved, contact Amie Fraley.

Sponsor a Tree in Addor

Help Landscape our Latest Community

It takes financial support to achieve the Habitat mission and keep these homes affordable. You have an opportunity to support the community and to be recognized for our support through the tree-scape that will line the streets of this new neighborhood. Approximately 50 trees will be planted as part of the community, each providing space for a nameplate at its base. We hope you consider honoring a loved one with a tree sponsor or leaving your own legacy. You may contribute individually or by your local church or other group in the community. If you have additional questions about the sponsorship, don't hesitate to contact Amie Fraley at afraley@sandhilshabit.org
