Though the fig tree should not blossom,

    nor fruit be on the vines,

the produce of the olive fail

    and the fields yield no food,

the flock be cut off from the fold

    and there be no herd in the stalls,

yet I will rejoice in the Lord;

    I will take joy in the God of my salvation.

-Habakkuk 3:17-18-

Tomorrow, our nation will pause to celebrate Thanksgiving.  The turkey will become the symbolic martyr of another year of blessings.  Families will gather in their homes, football players will run onto their fields, and if we are honest, God's Word once again gets closed and placed on the dusty shelf. The Bible app is left dormant; there is too much to do and prepare to make Thanksgiving “perfect.”.  We praise him for our earthly blessings, but so often, we forget about the eternal blessings bestowed upon us by the Creator.

The wondrous truth is that Thanksgiving is always perfect because of Christ, regardless of what is on the dinner table tomorrow.  We don’t need to wait until the last Thursday in November to thank our God for all he has done for us.  So together we praise Him, not just in times of plenty but also in times of need.  May I suggest a different appetizer for the meal tomorrow? Read the words of Habakkuk above and take joy in the God of your salvation!  Pumpkin pie is just a bonus.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

See you Sunday - I can’t wait!

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

LORD JESUS, HEAL OUR LAND, OUR BODIES, AND OUR HEARTS.
