Employment law might not be the first thing on a camp director's mind during a busy summer, but it's crucial to pay attention to it. Camps often mix work, social, and personal life in one place, which can blur boundaries and make compliance even more important. With the rise in legal actions from staff, inspired by numerous lawsuits and large settlements against employers, it's essential to have a basic understanding of the law, along with the right policies and procedures. This knowledge can help prevent unexpected legal issues and foster a sense of fairness among staff. Learn from real examples of employment claims made against camps to avoid similar problems.
