State: Here's A Summary of New CA Laws for 2025 that Businesses Should Be Aware Of:

Retail Theft

AB 1779 Prosecutors can consolidate crimes from multiple jurisdictions into one case.
AB 1802 Permanently allows felony charges for organized retail theft; extends the CHP’s Property Crimes Task Force indefinitely.
AB 2943 Targets serial retail theft occurring within 90 days.
AB 3209 Permits restraining orders against theft suspects.
SB 905 Auto burglary can be prosecuted regardless of whether the vehicle was locked.
SB 982 Makes laws targeting organized retail theft permanent.
SB 1416 Increases penalties for selling, exchanging, or returning stolen goods.

Food Delivery Services

Sb1490 Requires food delivery services such as DoorDash and GrubHub to specify the fees they charge to both customers and restaurants.

Workers’ Rights

SB 988 Employers must pay freelance workers within the timeframe specified in contracts or within 30 days if no contract exists.
AB 2011: The California Civil Rights Department’s small employer family leave mediation pilot program becomes permanent. It guarantees eligible employees certain types of job-protected leave and adds claims for violations of reproductive leave provisions. This applies to small employers with 5–19 employees.
SB 399 Employers cannot force their employees to attend meetings during which the employer’s political or religious views are expressed.

Apply to be a Superbowl Vendor

Interested in Being a Local Supplier/Subcontractor for Super Bowl LX in 2026?

Levi's Stadium will be hosting the Super Bowl in 2026. The NFL in partnership with the San Francisco 49ers and Bay Area Host Committee (BAHC) is inviting Silicon Valley businesses to apply and become an official supplier/vendor for Super Bowl LX. If your business is in the food/catering; event production; or services spaces (including transportation, construction & maintenance, security), take advantage of the opportunity to support the production of this world class event. You will need to apply for selection as a subcontractor. The application deadline is next Friday 1/31/25.

Complete the Superbowl LX Source Program Application (takes 10 minutes) by Friday, 1/31/25

If accepted, businesses will receive:

Inclusion in the Official Member Directory shared with the NFL and the Bay Area Host Committee’s primary contractors and event producers
Access to workshops with the goal of educating member businesses in areas of their interest while preparing you to be successful in doing business with the NFL
Exclusive networking opportunities with NFL and 49ers
